KitchenAid KDC-17A pulled from The Pile

Saw this in the haulaway pile today. Nice, clean little machine. Put it thru the paces. Other than the broken handle (try finding THAT) so far I cannot locate why it was destined to die.

Any idea as to age? This one has a pressure switch for a water level control.

The racks are in excellent shape as is the gasket. No R/A dispenser although I'm sure it could have been an add-on like the Maytags were with a kit.

The wash arm. Sounds just like a Kitchenaid by Hobart. I still love the description "Hurricane In A Box". This one sounds like it could remove the flower pattern right off the dish! The underside is as clean as a whistle - no leaks or leak marks. The blower motor for the heating assy is stiff, so I will lube that. Nice Machine...

Ooh. Nice Kitchenaid. One of my aunts had that exact one except hers was gold I think.

The normal fill level is timed. The pressure switch is for overfill protection.

another great 17 model kitchenaid

i picked up one of those from a guy here in cinti last year for 50 bucks. he bought a new dishwasher and could not believe that it took over an hour and a half to do a load when his kdc-17 would do it in a half hour. he said if it weren't for his wife he would have kept the kdc. he was a restaurant manager and was big on hobart!

it might not have the bells and whistles like the superbas but it still is a great dishwasher! i put a new motor on mine even tho the old one worked fine. this was before i found any superba 17's and i thought the custom model might be all i would ever get. little did i know then that superbas were to start popping up all over the place!

anyway, it looks great, better shape than the one i have, looks like it had an easy life which is good for you!
