Just moved into our retirement townhouse which will have a new KitchenAid KDFE204KPS dishwasher installed tomorrow. I’ve been reading a lot of negative threads about modern Whirlpool/Maytag/KitchenAids and it’s got me worried. What can I expect from this KitchenAid?

Who knows? The stainless around it rusts. Obviously it isn't 18/10% nickel stainless.
P.S. My Sanyo boom box was the 9030 K. The lower front was silver color. Not early for me at all. Upper body workout this morning.

It has the new wash system and many people are very happy with it.
Huge capacity, pretty efficient, very quiet.
Typically at least - the cycle guide for this model shows that besides the normal cycle you are always looking at 7-10gal of water usage. That makes sense for the tough cycle (9-10gal) or the Express cycle (7-8gal), but the ProWash shouldn't have such high usage typically. That should be more in the "slightly above Normal" range (3-10gal with 3-6gal being common). And the rins eonly cycle certainly does not 10gal. There have to be some printing mistakes in that manual...

This base design has only been on the market 3 years or so I think - so not many long term experiences.
And I would be highly surprised about visible rust after just 3 years, especially on a stainless steel panel of any quality.

This should at least perform pretty well for most people.
How long it'll last is another topic. Though unless some design issue is discovered, I'd give it a few years.

I would agree. The documentation seems wrong for the cycle guide.
Check out the guide for the 104, that seems more accurate.
104 cycle guide

IDK who has been doing Whirlpool Corp’s manuals and documentation the past several years, but it’s hot garbage.
