Started the old girl with a full load
About a min in smoke starts rolling out of the cabinet. Ran and shut off the main breaker. Waited for the Smoke to clear and pulled the old girl out.looks like the fan motor was starting to burn up.
Disconnected motor and pushed Unit back into the cabinet.

Did you mean KDI-19???

The 18 series used the heated air system to dry the dishes. The blower you show is from the 19 series. I am going to assume that is what you actually have.
You cannot buy that shaded pole motor anymore but I have at least one of those complete blowers if not two of them in the Attic!
let me know if you would like to get one of them.
Did you happen to notice if the blower was not working previous to today's mishap?

I'm wondering if there is a more serious problem, as that blower shouldn't be running or getting power at the start of a cycle?

Im sorry your right its a 19 i also own a 18.i dont plan on fixing it i ran it with out the fan and it worked fine.my 18 needs a timer. I will buy a timer for that or a different. Unit. The 19 is gonna have to go.

Smoking Blower Motor On A KDI-19

It may be a moot point if you are going to replace the DW anyway, but often on these KA DWs when these motors short and burn its because the main pump seal is leaking and spraying a detergent laden solution of water on the motor and causes it to short.

Well she did one last load and the motor
Seized up. Anyone have the part number for a kds18 timer. Also if anyone needs parts from the 19 let me know

Once again, John. On the money

John, I was going to mention that to him since it was the most common cause of the fan motor failures. I think the machine should be fixed and if it is only the "Yibble" problem that has got you peeved, I can suggest that you modify the white plastic manifold on the 19 to emulate what they did on the 20's. They cut a small slit in the manifold which allows water to spray up and out over the tops of the dishware in the upper rack. It helps I am sure as I have never had a problem with my 20 ad have it on my 18 as well. Have to mention that my 18 is actually in a 20 tank so it does not have the constant rinse and like I said, I never if but very rarely Had a "Yibbles"problem.
A standard hack saw blad is the correct thickness to achieve the spray pattern desired.
Sorry about the photo quality but its only a cheap Verizon cell phone.

s machine has always washed well. It was never in the best shape. Ive used it for a year and a half while i kept putting off getting the timer for the 18.

Its defiantly the timer. Rapid advance stoped working and now the timer never advances to the end gets stuck one click
Before the end of the cycle.when It broke
I had a thread on it. I found the 19 local for twenty bucks and just never got a timer.
