KitchenAid KDS-15

I have just put together a KitchenAid KDS-15. The motor came out of a KDI-15 that I put in it and it was running fine then all of sudden it was making a noise like it was laboring and centrifugal switch wasnt kicking out. Motor got hot and quit. Cooled off and started up again and repeated the same thing again. The motor in the parts break down is as follow:
Hobart- M-83434-1
Whirlpool- 4171907 Pump Kit

Does anyone know where I can get this motor from. I have looked on eBay and there was one but out sold just recently and I need one bad. Please help me! My cell is 608-371-3619

a bit i'm sure that motor will pop up on ebay again, that's how i get most of my parts, just keep looking!

actually there is one listed now but it's way overpriced! 300 bucks, that's ridiculous in my book! i bought a new motor for a 17 model and paid about 100 one time. i've seen them used for 50 bucks or less. don't give up.

beautiful machine, i have one just like it i've had 10 years and have yet to get to it to rebuild it!

Shimming issue?

I was wondering, when you swapped out the pump from the Imperial unit, did you take the pump apart and then reassemble all the workings in the Superba? The wash and drain impellers had to be shimmed correctly in order to 1. provide proper water pressure to the washarm and to prevent the drain impeller from hitting the pump housing on the bottom. If you set the wash impeller too high, it could sometimes hit the bottom of the wash arm support and slow the motor down and make noise.

Try removing the support and look for any evidence of scraping on it or the wash impeller. Also, you may have caught something in the wash impeller as well and just have to remove it. If you don't find any debris, run the machine with the wash arm support removed and see if the motor trips out. If it runs without issue then you have to recheck your assembly work.

Your start switch in the motor could also be hanging up and that would cause strange sounds and overheat the motor. I am sure that you know what the switch opening or closing will sound like as the motor slows down. The start switch is closed when not running and once the motor speeds up, the centrifugal portion of the device will allow the switch to open, cutting off the start windings.

A little more detective work may solve the problem.
