My mother's dishwasher has from day one brand new, if we turn the timer until it clicks into the Normal cycle slot and then lock it to start the machine...it will fill with water, but not enough water. It's like there's not enough time for it to fill properly and there's plenty of water pressure. The work-around for this has always been turn the timer til resistance is felt before clicking into Normal spot, lock door, and in a few minutes the water will start and it will fill just fine. I thought this might just have been a fluke with her particular machine...until now.

My KUDI23 that is brand new unused and has just been installed is the exact same way. It does it on pots/pans too. Any of you KA repair people heard any customers mention this over the years? It's no big deal, as I said there is a work-around and it works just fine. I'm just curious if our two identical models built a few months apart are unique.

Try this and see!

Close the door and latch it. Then turn the timer dial as described above. Then hit the cycle selection button and see what happens. The latch resets the timer to its proper start position and maybe it is just slightly off. Otherwise, close and latch the door, turn the timer to almost where you want it and then hit the cycle button. The timer will advance automatically to the correct start position and you should have enough water.
On those machines without a rapid advance timer, once the timer resets to the start position(which it does by lifting the latch handle),you can load it and then latch the door and select any cycle you want and it will advance to the correct start position for the cycle you selected all by itself, which may take some time but certainly puts much less wear and tear on the timer.
