I had an ancient (1930 or so) L&H electric range for a while. I picked it up for $5 back in the '70s. It was on legs, but they were an updated style -- shorter and more square shaped than older stoves. The burners were all open nichrome coils in ceramic plates with a swirl pattern. IIRC, the burner settings were Low, Medium and Fast. It made my mom's '49 Westinghouse seem space-age, and was never going to be viable.
I ended up selling it at a yard sale for much more than I had paid for it, so it all worked out. For me, anyway. I'm not so sure about the stove.
