Those colours are authentic to the period,

However, they give me a headache!

(No, more like extreme nausea).

The dryer in the first picture is a fine example of a gas Maytag with pilot access.

Thanks, Don, for finding and posting.

My mom used an office type chair while she was ironing.-She also used it in her sewing room.My dad built a lower height ironig board for her to use.Come to think of it-she still has that chair.Uses it in her sewing-hobby room. She also has a sewing supplies cabinet that can serve as a seat while sitting at the sewing machine. My dad made the cabinet long ago on his Shopsmith. She still uses the cabinet-but not as a seat.It has spools of thread and parts for her sewing machines. The office chair she has is VERY comfortable. It was not that expensive-its got to be about 40 years old.Its survived many moves and use.Don't know what brand it is.the pictures of the laundry rooms is pretty neat-like those hangers that look like people-hanger-people-pretty neat.Clever idea.-Would be a good scrollsaw or bandsaw project.

God do I love that specific Maytag set. My grandmother had one...and just got rid of it last year. It was never repaired or gave her a minutes problem. She was a clean laundry fanatic....I only remember her using warm water washes like 2 times in my life...never cold. That washer stayed on HOT 95% of the time. And her hot water measured up there about 160-170 degrees. Not to mention the scoop and half of Tide w/ Bleach in her chemically softened water.....and about 2 caps of Downy in the one and only rinse. Its a wonder the clothes didnt make her scratch her ass off. Just thought I would share, ya'll.

The picture with the office chair, the washer & dryer are the 1964 Norge DispensoMat washer & dryer my parents had. The dryer is in stop'n'dry mode and the washer cycle button I believe pushed is #3, which was white cottons, but with a cold rinse.

Thanks for the ID Bob! I only know the book is copywrite 1963. Rex I was wondering about the blue ones also, they really look cool!

Granny's Maytags

"God do I love that specific Maytag set. My grandmother had one...and just got rid of it last year. It was never repaired or gave her a minutes problem."

So why did she end up getting rid of them? Just because they were "old"? Or did she move to a smaller place or something like that?

Lawrence, all these colors were quite avante gard and ... for the time(s). We got GE combo, Frigidaire, Norge (I believe twice), Maytag, and Whirlpool

Loud n Lovely Laundry Rooms

Geez...remember when laundry rooms used to be fun? What's happened to us? We're so white on white and predictable.

Had to laugh Don...When you were talking about the "office chair", I thought you were referring to the white one in the green and orange set up! Guess that would be convenient too! LOL

Thanks for the great pics! Too much fun!
