Thought I would start a thread to see what is some of the favorite foods that the club members will be making. Tonight chicken wings and potato salad. Tomorrow a whole roasted chicken stuffed with celery and onion in the crock pot. Hope everyone here has a great and safe holiday weekend.

I'm going to try this recipe for Alfredo sauce for tonight's supper.   Also going to add some shrimp to it as well.

Since we are in high tomato season, went to the local farm and bought a bunch of heirloom tomatoes and some fresh corn and peppers. So will make a tomato salad with cucumber, celery, red onion, extra virgin olive oil, red wine vinegar, just a touch of fresh garlic, plenty of salt and some dried oregano (for some reason dried oregano works in this salad beautifully. With some fresh Italian bread, one of my favorite summer meals. If you have some fresh mozzarella, that takes it to a whole new level.

Corn gets cut from the cob and sauteed in a bit of butter/olive oil with red onion, red and yellow bell pepper and some chopped basil for a riff on Barefoot Contessa's Confetti Corn. So colorful and tasty - made it for a cookout two weeks ago and was amazed.. There were 18 people and plenty of side dishes but a triple recipe still went very quickly

Beautiful weather day here in Connecticut and am off to a Cuban pig roast - the pig has no interest for me, but I wouldn't miss the several variations of rice and beans that will be served. Since it will be outdoors - the only issue today will be the abundance of yellow jackets that seem to infest our area in September. Actually had to leave the beach after only 30 minutes today since they were everywhere. It was almost Sci Fi...

Yellow jackets. I had them bad last year on the front porch where they'd built a nest in the brickwork by the garage door. You can make a trap by cutting the top off a pop bottle and inverting the top half into the bottom like a funnel and use regular not diet root beer in it. Works pretty good but use root beer not other flavours they seem to really like it. Got that tip from one of the fry trucks down by the beach here.

I get those stupid yellow jacket bees too every year. After being stung 17 times once and told to keep an Epi-Pen, I got an alternative that works very well for me. A local discount store, Ocean State Job Lots had these $5 tennis racket thingies that hold 2 AA batteries. Push the button, slap the bee and it is toast, literally. Does a great job on mosquitoes and black flies too. I am having pork ribs on the grill tonight.

Going to a nearby lake with friends. I'm bringing deviled eggs and faux potato salad made with microwaved bite-size pieces of cauliflower, as three of us are on lower carb diets. Also bringing a low carb lemon mousse with raspberries. The host is picking up broasted chicken. Others are bringing real potato salad and other side dishes. Supposed to be hot and humid, so I may not stay long. It's been a rough summer for asthmatics in this area.

We had company yesterday and most of today. Last night's dinner was: Ham with orange marmalade and brown sugar glaze, scalloped potatoes, peas and homemade dinner rolls. Dessert was chocolate cake and frosting.
After church today we had scrambled eggs, hash browns, left over ham and bacon.
We had a great time too.

Whent to an authentic Irish restraunt on the Oregon coast last night and had Corned Beef and Cabbage... Had Bahn Mi today with salad rolls.. Also ate a bacon breakfast burrito and two mcdonalds breaksfat burritos yesterday... Need to eat again soon but am clueless

Good catch, Eddie! I've been cycling through profile pics frequently the past few weeks. Decided to settle in with Lou for awhile. I discovered T.Rex in 1971 and they've been my 'desert island' band ever since. I just hope that desert island has a place to charge an iPod, LOL.[this post was last edited: 9/5/2016-08:25]

My LD was kind of a short notice day.  Got a call from some  cousins and I had made home made Baked Beans and a Macaroni salad for myself, just packed it up and grabbed a porterhouse steak from the freezer and headed over for an enjoyable afternoon evening get together.

We just chilled

mainly yesterday, and grilled burgers. Got together with 12 family members, my nephew and his b/f/partner Saturday and had a nice restaurant dinner out.
Did some plumbing repairs around the house, yard work.
