My inquiry is regarding my search for an agitator my Mom's Lady Kenmore in El Paso, TX. Her drier also needs a knob.

I am in the Dallas area and realize this may be a needle-in-a-haystack situation but my Mom is really attached to her machines and I do want to give it a good try to get her washer working properly again.

I listed the equipment info below and I am attaching some pictures as well. I hope you can open them. She did find the agitator bolt locally.

The tech that went to the house to check it out said the bolt used on the agitator by some other repair guy is the wrong part and they inserted it wrong and crossed-threaded it. So it is difficult to remove. The agitator may need to be cut out! It seems to be loose and worn out on the bottom, he said. So it is not agitating the clothes at all.

Washer model: 110.72490420
Agitator part: 369645 (prob replaced by part # 285066)

Drier Model: 110.77490400 which needs the knob, part 349281, on the attached picture.

I would appreciate your assistance or any lead to a salvage dealer.

Thank you,

Joe Dozal

The agitator may need to be cut out! It seems to be loose and worn out on the bottom, he said.
The agitator drives near the top, not at the bottom. It's a one-piece item so there's nothing to become "loose and worn out on the bottom." More typically, the splines at the top of the agitator drive shaft are rusted, in bad condition, so the agitator slips instead of having positive drive/movement. The matching splines inside the top of the agitator also wear down.

Sears had numerous different agitator designs. This one is known as the PentaSwirl. There are others that will fit if you can't find the specific design. However, whether a replacement (of any type) will be successful depends on the condition of the splines ... and removing the existing agitator is required to examine them.

This is a 1974 Lady Kenmore, last of the keyboard/pushbutton models.
