Lanco Maytag was open for 72 years. An independent retailer where I bought my Maytag set about 10 years ago. I took the washer there about 3 years ago to have the tub seal changed.

Here is the notice in the window

Notice. Look behind and you will see a Maytag wringer, I believe an 1980's model. This machine was ususlly in their front window as a display item.

The Wringer

I noticed a sale sign on top of the Maytag wringer, maybe it was for sale too. I bought a 1949 Maytag AMP from them too. It also was a window display item for many years.

I have actually been to Lamco's!! A friend (who is now back in MN), lived in Sacramento on Arden Road (or something like that--I remember there was a large mall a couple of miles down the road from her)----anyway, we went there to buy a washer and dryer for her duplex. Talk about a small world!

Hate to see indie dealers go under. I read so many complaints here about the horrible service people receive from places like Home Depot and the "big box" retailers. Independent dealers almost always have fantastic repair service. I know that's true of the dealers in my little burg.

Wonder if the red wringer went.

What a beauty, just like your AMP. We're so used to seeing the green trimmed E2LS's; the rarer red is so alluring. Wonder if it's a pump model--can't tell from the pix.

Boy, what a treasure, a NIB Maytag Cadillac right off the show room floor. Curious, will call the referral number tomorrow, not that I have any plans to purchase and ship it. Hope someone gets it.

Sad that these independants are dying out like dinosaurs. Will they ever come back?
