Last true Philips dishwasher : ADG 666

From Philirama 1988, this nice DW. It was made in a Bauknecht factory in Neunkirchen (Saarland - Germany).

This model released in 1986 was a milestone in modern diswashers, far ahead (and far quieter) than contemporary Mieles, Aeg, Bosch/Siemens

- very first dishwasher with hidden heater, no drying element

- first DW to use just 5.5 litres per fill (22 litres per cycle) and 1.6 Kwh per normal 65°C programme

- it has a tachimeter controlled wash pump (DPC system). In case of suds or bowls gone upside down, the pump "senses" the lack of water and the fill valve adds further water until the proper wash pressure is restored.

- it has the "slanted" upper rack (raised on right, lower on left). Same design - but reversed - was later used by Aeg Favorit

I had one since 1986 till 2000. replaced because *someone* (read kid) threw a chair against the open door and damaged the fascia, so it was no more safe, otherwise it was still going strong.

Then Whirlpool acquired Philips (1989) .... and there's non need to comment quality improvements

As Im sure you know this identical machine was manufactured for many years under the philips-whirlpool and then just whirlppol name.

your're right,
they just changed the racks design and went on with the very same machine till 1996.

The problem began with the newer design [ link to the Bauknecht/Whirlpool ]. The odd thing is we went for this Bauknechtpool cause we had been so satisfied by the Philips

For our american friends : the "infamous" hidden heating element is that tube pointed out by 65.10
