Ralph,
Great looking perculator! I saw a Jet-O-Mat somewhat like that a few years ago in a second-hand store, and they were asking $20.00 for it, so I think you got a good bargain.

I'm a member of a very old Catholic parish in Detroit (St. Josaphat) and I do most of the cooking for parish functions. In our social hall, we have a Jet-O-Mat 100 cup coffee urn - and it's noisy, but no more so than the WestBend 100 cup urn that we also use. Many times we're making 200 cups of coffee at a time, and between the two urns we hear a symphony of gurgles, poundings, and hisses. That's how we know they are working properly!

Let us know how that first cup of Jet-O-Mat coffee tastes!

Yeah, I pulled up that same Pyrex model on ebay the other night while cruising for more info.

Not exactly the same system as an electric, but it would have been interesting if they had made as much as possible out of Pyrex so you could see the "jet" mechanism at work.
