Went to use it last week and the motor hums and does not start...so...

Hook up motor to test cord - Works great

Hook up motor to washer - Just hums

The motor is a 70's GE that has a built in thermostat and start capacitor. I still have the start capacitor in the washer hooked up and it has thermostat in the timer. Ill bypass both to see if it makes a difference...anyone else ever have a motor situation like this where it works in bench testing but not in the washer?

Hi Jerry

The 70s three belt Westinghouse washers did not use a start capacitor and I don't think you can use a start capacitor with 70s GE motor.

Ill hook the start capacitor wires together to bypass it
