Interesting results - Tesco Value scoring higher than Finish Powerball All in One. I can endorse the result from the Waitrose Essential Tablets - they are so bad I threw them away and I would never normally do anything like that. At the risk of stating the obvious, the price is per tablet/wash:

Thanks for posting, Hoovermatic. I hadn't realised they had retested.

So not much change at the top then with the Fairy Platinum and Aldi, though Finish Classic puts in an appearance.

I'm so surprised Fairy Platinum are at the top, having used Fairy `All in 1' which I found didn't remove tea stains at all, frequently sudslocked our Bosch and really smelled too strongly. Can anyone vouch for this result? If so will excitedly stock up as Tesco have half price at the moment......

Shame they didn't test LIDL's normal tabs at £1.69 a box, they seem one of the best to me since the very recent reformulation.

It does seem odd that Lidl's tablets haven't been tested. Come to that, Finish "Max-in-1" aren't on the list either.

I've never understood Which? when it comes to testing. In the past, I have been disappointed by their selection of appliances tested.

Which? is disappointing

I find it a bit weird that Which? often seem to just test a handful of brands.

It's sort of understandable for heavy appliances, as they'd have to purchase them all to carry out the tests. However, for something cheap and easy to source like dishwasher tablets, it's really quite ridiculous that they don't just test EVERY brand.

Why does Fairy rate so high with them?
I could understand if it was fairy wash up liquid, cause that's brilliant, but that dishwasher tabs (Fairy platinum) left stains on the dishes and tea stains in cups in our Neff dishwasher, and also made the dishwasher smell, whereas Finish really works well, no smell, no stains. So how Fairy scores 78% i really don't know.
Plus what machines do they perform there tests in? all machines I hope.

How do you know that P&G doesn't pay Which? to put them at the top, they should do live tests and put them on the internet.

Just like in the laundry detergents, Ariel Excel gel scored the top liquid gel detergent in 2008, 2009 and 2010, but then when they changed to the actilift version, it slipped down in performance and was stripped of its best buy award.

Plus in the recent 2012 tests they didn't test Daz Powder, Bold 2in1, or Fairy washing powders, or store brands like Tesco Bio, Asda washing powders, or ALMAT

Which? SHOULD be testing all detergents at the same time. All this nonsense about detergents "not being tested because we didn't test for softening ability" is a lot of hooey - detergents are bought primarily to clean laundry. Softening clothes is secondary to cleaning ability. So Fairy and Bold should be on the list.

As for the liquids and gels dropping in performance, I think Which? made their tests tougher and more realistic.

Tesco Value Tablets have been reformulated.

I noticed in Tesco today that the red and white "value" tablets box, has been replaced by a blue and white "value" box.

Differences are:

Red/white box: made in UK, 30 x 18g tablets, 15-30% oxygen bleaching agents.

Blue/White box: bulkier shape of box, made in Germany (www.nipa-gmbh.com), 30 x 16g, reduced amount of bleach, possibly also reduced phosphates (can't remember exactly).

So Tesco now has several dishwasher tablets, made in different countries:
Tesco "Daisy" tablets made in UK,
Tesco "Value" tablets now made in Germany,
Tesco "5-in-1" tablets made in Luxembourg,
Tesco "Naturally" tablets made in Denmark.
