Fuller detergents - (especially the powder) remind me of original Amway SA8, Charlie's Soap, and Watkin's detergents. White, no residual smell, and seem to clean as well as the others and have that "boiled wash" feel when the clothes are finished (with no fabric softener used).
I like the liquid version as it makes a lot of bubbles--lol. I don't use it as my daily driver, but I do like to use them on occasion. The pre-treaters they sell seem to be effective and for unique situations (like gum).
Darren, to prime the pump, just dump in 1+ quarts of water into the washbasket and turn the machine on. That's all there is to it. The back of the installation manual has a checklist of things to do before turning the machine on - also make sure the shipping plug is out of the bottom and of course the top (hard to miss that one).
