Laundry Room Almost Done!!!

Scott, Steve 1-18 has a septic system, but his laundry studio doesn't go thorugh there. I'll ask him for ya and let ya know.

Scott, and yes, I've heard about that 3/day load limit. In conjunction with comments about my marathon laundry days where I"ve done 11-20 loads in two days lol. I'd never be able to live on a spetic system, unless it was a front loader involved lol.

Hmmm. I wasn't given any warnings about that. I don't specifically recall if I've washed more than 3 loads in a day ... but it's certainly possible. If I use one of the whirlpool tubs along with two loads, that'd likely be equivalent or more. Maybe the design of my septic system is able to handle that kind of volume. The pump tank has (I think) 800 gallons capacity, and a high-level sensor that will trigger an immediate pump-down outside the scheduled time.

Some localities will permit a separate septic system that's just for "gray" water from sinks and washers. Of course this means extra expense, but may be worth it if you plan to stick around for some years

Interesting, however living right near the Chesapeake Bay, they are so strict with septic systems, if you put in a new one now, it has to have this nitrate removal system that is very expensive. I don't see any special programs for Maryland. From what I am learning, if you do a lot of laundry and cleaning, you have to replace the active enzimes or bacteria into the system, and it will stay working. Thanks for all the info! Sounds like there are a few options out there depending on where you live.
