Laundry room remodel and photo shoot

Hi all, well after a few years of trying I am finally going to remodel the dreary laundry room. It's old Armstrong floor had given way, so I decided to remove a false wall that was hiding a pipe, and redo the foundation with subway tile. I put those little hexagon tiles on the floor for a vintage look. So sorry about the stupid date in the corner I didn't know it was doing that.

So

I built a little shelf across the wall to hid the pipe. The room gained almost 4 inches with this. That sink and toilet are Kohler Spruce green that I salvaged years ago. That was a pretty interesting story as the guy wanted a fortune for them but I talked him down. I did notice one sold on ebay for quite a bunch just lately though.

Anyway here it is mostly finished

Well, here is the photo shoot part

I've had these for years but never really done anything with them. I did a lot of work on them when I got them, I wonder if they still work...

Well, actually this is a little nerve wracking

But things seems to be moving along. There were some issues but they seem to be working out. Here it is filling...and starting to rotate

So far so good

So, some may remember but this machine was in a basement in Spokane Wa. I picked it up and noticed the moving bolts were still in a little bag inside the machine. In other words I don't think the machine has been run more than a few times. My theory is that it couldn't pump the water out of the basement all the way up to the first floor. It was a real bear getting it out of the basement. When I got it home I replaced the hoses, and it seemed to work.

I had it on regular but only had a few clothes in it so I think it might have had plenty of water in it.

Time for the spin dryer. Well, I can report

that there is actually very little water in these clothes. Actually, almost nothing came out which is a lot different than the Kenmore.

Here the dryer is drying away

The timers on both advance. There is a slight outer tub leak in the washer that might fix itself after it gets a little more water soaked. I hope so. I put a little plate down there for now.

Well, I am wondering

what to do with these. I don't think they are too practical for a large family to be used every day. I might part with them. Anyway thanks for looking.

All I can say is WOW! The room looks wonderful, classic charm indeed. I love the Westinghouse set in there, it fits well.

Agreed, that is a nice retro look. I like the Westy's, I would think they would serve you well. Very basic machines, but well built. I like what you did with the flooring. Looks nice.

Your laundry room is beautiful! Even the trim on the Westys compliments the colors in the room. It seems a shame to "part out" the Westys since they seem to operate so well. I'm sure you could find a buyer for a beautiful matched set of operational vintage machines.

Brian - very nice! I recall when you got these, back in the day. Enjoy them while they are ready for service and I'm sure you will have no issues finding a new home for them once you're done.

Very nice!

I like your Kohler Spruce Green fixtures.

The washer is just like the one my mom got for Christmas 1955, when I was 5 months old. We had it until a new Westinghouse FL was purchased in 1964.
