My dad had a cousin who lived outside of Las Cruces NM and when I was about 9 or so, we went and visited her. Her washer & dryer were out in a garage. It was a mid-50s Whirlpool Imperial dryer (I remember it buzzed) and had a center dial). She also had this washer. If I remember correctly, wash temp was provided by the timer's wash time length--hot, medium, warm and the other knob was 3 position water level.
