I thought that I would share this pic of my partner and our 2 cats. The cat between the legs is Kyle and the cat beside Scott is Zoe.

I see some one has sleep apenia.. I tried one of those cpap macienes and couldn't use it due to my asthma..

Just looking at Zoe makes me feel calm. Cats can be so meditative.

I'm taking care of a big black & white cat for a friend who just moved back to the midwest after 20 years in Seattle. He's staying with his sister who can't have a cat in the house. Nick (the cat) has been a good roommate, so far. I haven't had a pet in the house since I had to put mine down back in 2000, but it's all coming back to me: The kitchen trash can has to go under the sink; don't leave the pantry door open; watch for potential escapees when exiting the house; don't allow a 'tail' on the toilet paper roll to hang down, LOL!

Nick will probably be with me for a month or so. When I get new batteries in my camera I'll post a pic.

Exploder good eyes you have. I am the one with the apnea. That machine has been a godsend. Kyle was a rescue from Maine. A coworker of mine told me about her neighbor that had kittens and we have been looking for a pal for Zoe since we thought she was lonely. We have had Kyle now for 2 years and he is the most increadible cat I have ever known. He is a character and doesnt know he is a cat. Mimics alot of what we do. Zoe is a good cat ...she has come a long ways from when we got her. She was abused and it has taken her a long time to trust us. Love them and couldnt imagine life without em.

My cat, Sputnik, has been with me since he was a kitten. He's old now, and spends most of his time on the sofa in the basement, but he still rules the roost - and he still loves to tease our equally elderly and very jealous dachshund. The other dogs he regards with the contempt they so richly deserve. ;-)

It's funny how the tables turn: When Sputnik was a kitten, he would climb into bed at night and sleep on my legs. I tend to toss a bit, and poor little Sputnik would get thrown around all night. Nowadays, he's a big twenty pound cat, and when he settles down on my legs he nearly cuts the circulation off. It would take an earthquake to toss him anywhere.

Both dogs and cats are wonderful, but when the chips are down, you can really see the difference: A dog loves you 24/7, rain or shine, good or bad. A cat will ignore you 99% of the time, but if you are sad, or not feeling well, they stick by you until the situation improves.

I love pets :-)

I really want a cat, but it costs $200 for the deposit and $25 extra a month for a furball. I would love one esp. scince i am sick, but i couldn't afford it.

Hey Dan..

How old is your dachshund? Mine is 13 going on 5. Her name is Murphy. She is very fiesty and a total alpha dog. We also have a year old Weimaraner named Jackson. The 2 of them get into it all the time.

Of Folded Towels and Cuddly Kitty Cats

Had a whale of a fun time finishing my laundry one night when I would attempt to add another folded towel to the stack on top of the dryer, only to find a roommate's kitty cat sitting on top of those towels. After getting the kitty safely back into the roommate's room and out of the way, I could resume the chore to completion. At least "Faces" could still come out when all the laundry was safely put away.--Laundry Shark

my cats

I have always loved cats. I like dogs but they require more care than an indoor cat (at least to me). Yes, there's the litter box, but you don't have to go outside at anytime of the day so your dog can do it's business. For you dog owners and lovers, my hat off to you.

I had a beautiful male Siamese (sealpoint) from 6 weeks to 19 years old, then had to be put down because he was old and all of his body just shut down. Thank God for my parents who took him to the vets to do the thing. My dad made a grave at their house in the garden with a sealed concrete slab over and a nice looking cross at the head. It was a year ago, and I still get teary eyes when I think about him

After he died, in about 5 days, I adopted two cats from the SPCA who were brother and sister (they told me). They are so different but obviously had been together, found in a ditch together. One is black and the SPCA kept them together on purpose due to obvious reasons but also because a lot of people will not have a black cat. Can you believe that! How stupid.

Sorry for rambling, but I love the pictures and the other posters comments.

Dachshund and Cats

Dan,

My dachshund (Joey) and the cat (Soloman) are the best friends ever. Soloman pins Joey down every night to give him a complete bath. Starts with the face and ears and works his way back, when he is done with one side he slaps Joey so Joey will roll over to get the other side done.

Joey is 9 years old and has some back trouble (common to the breed) and Soloman is now 2 years old. I must agree with the comment above, Dogs are your friends 99.9% of the time, cats, well when the mood strikes. Soloman is the exception to the rule and he wants to be close to you all the time. If we sit in a chair to watch TV both curl up on our laps and sleep. Generally the cat uses the dog as pillow.

Pets are wonderful!!!

I love black cats, and would get one in a second! Our neighbor has a jet black one that is fluffy and just lovely to look at. His name is "The Bandit".

Our male Dachshund's name is Shadow. He is 15 years old, but still quite bossy, and totally willing to pick fights with much younger, bigger dogs and the occassional child. He has had some back problems as well, but he is crate trained, so we are careful to make sure he doesn't jump, and we put him in his crate when we leave the house.

Gladys, our female Dachshund, is younger and a nutcase. She is an attention strumpet and perfectly capable of barking all day long. But she is learning the word "MUZZLE", and that seems to help curb her enthusiasm.

Then we have Crackers, the Pomerainian. He's also a nutcase, but quite a sweetheart. He loves the ladies, and the ladies love him: Anytime a woman comes over, they melt all over him, and he's on his best behavior. Only when they leave does he decide to throw up, or shred a magazine, or eat a sweater.

We have a female black & white cat, about 8 years old that showed up as a stray several years ago and who tends to think she's either a dog or a human most of the time. She's very vocal and even speaks in syllables depending on the situation. She comes when called, loves to play and wrestle with you, sees you coming and runs ahead and then throws herself down and rolls on her back waiting for you to come and play. She's the most relaxed and tolerant cat I've ever known and would be totally at home in the same position Kyle has assumed in the photo above. Everybody remarks on what a cool cat she is. I reply that we wouldn't have her if she wasn't. One thing I simply will not tolerate is a damaged goods cat that shuns or shies away from humans. Worthless critters, those are. I want an entertaining return on my food and veterinary investment, and our cat Mia has made me and my partner very rich in that regard.

I love animals in general but have always been more of a dog person than a cat person. Same goes for my partner. But we've been won over by Mia, she's our baby girl and can bring a smile to our faces with just one look. She's run away with the title of favorite pet I've ever had. I don't care how much somebody might hate cats, Mia would change their mind in a matter of minutes.
