Leaving the sixties: Life after the Evil Kenmore™

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Not to mention the temporal distortion

...and why it is that any machine that finds me and likes me is from 1975 or later.

The GE is.

The 1-18 is.

The Maytag was.

Yep, drag any machine older than that into the shed, and it crumbles right before your eyes.

I have proof.

Sort of feels like The Langoliers a little... :-P

All that and no picture??

Now we'll have to beg some more!

I had a similar machine in the late 80's that was left in my first house. It was a Kelvinator, plastic tub and white winged agitator. Loudest fill noise of any machine I've owned. They are fun to play with, lots of splashing and twirling going on.

I'll get pics...

...and some movies of the splashy wash and magical indexing tub. Its wash action is very reminiscent of the Spiralator-agitator-type Easy Spindriers of yesteryear.

(Round, round, round, down...round, round, round, down...)

I'll post both next week, though, as I'll have my first chance to do so then.

I'm also going to put together a page on the '61 in Kenmore (burn in h-- I mean, rest in peace) so you can see what I was up against :-) I have some good play-by-plays on the restoration that became more of a euthanasia experiment.

:-)
