Well the first wash went rather well. The first board I made had a few problems with the chip resetting during the rinses and when calling for water, this new unit worked well, still had a bit of a problem with resetting but this time it was during the wash, at the end of the wash the program sailed though the four rinses without any hitches.

Not quite as pleased as I thought I would be, I think I would like the main PCB on the front so you can see the LED’s, hide all the connections behind the back of the board, think it would be nice to see the lights flashing on and off with the wash action.

Well done Lee you must feel very proud to have reached this stage in your project.......

Great to have such control at your finger tips.......I take your point about having the LEDs on the front they would be fun, maybe if you have two stage spinning (500-800 eg) you could have different colour LED for each speed, yellow for 500 and perhaps blue for 800, anyway you get my drift...

How far away are you from being able to select different programmes/ spin speeds and temperatures.

I wouldnt worry too much about having the led's showing, you just need to build a facia for it now!.

Gary the elbows doing well, not much strength yet, but on the mend thank you.

Started designing a PCB to go on the front, so you can see what’s going on, should have done that in the first place. Have been trying out program code to operate an LCD display but me thinks this is a little advanced for me yet. Could do with that speed disc which is still on back order, the washing dose stick to the drum when distributing and dose seem to allow the odd uneven object to fall into a place for a balanced spin.

All 6 programs work, but not tested 1 and 7 with a load in it yet.

Washed on program 2, 60c today and loaded it up with 2 bath sheets, 1 bath towel, 2 hand towels and 1 bath mat. No problem a good test for any machine, belt needs adjusting as it squeals for a few minutes till it got warm. Motor stayed quite cool considering the load put on it.

Yester day I washed a double duvet, fitted sheet and 2 pillow cases on program 5, 40C.

Just need some whites and woollens to try now.

I don’t now what or how to make a facia yet, will have to decide when I’m happy with the PCB’s try and make something out of Perspex suppose.

I will make some more videos but the one I down loaded yesterday took 50 minutes to download, my internet is so slow it might as well be dial-up, changing supplier next week so hope it will be better, and I hope to find a more suitable camera with better resolution.

Forgot to say, changing the drain pump was one of the best things I have done to this machine. What a difference, so quite.

Made a new board which fits on the front, so you can see what’s going on by the LED’s, yellow for motor speed selection and red ones for power to the components.

This one seems to work much better.

Top row left to right

Spin, distribute, normal wash, slow wash, change over, motor isolation.

Bottom row left to right

Drain pump, softener water, cold water, hot water, inter lock, heater.

Well, I have now washed 3 loads with out having to intervene at any point.

Yesterday washed some colourers on program 5.
And some towels on program 2.

The interim spins during the rinses are still a problem. The first was so short the drum hardly left distribute speed. This resulted in poor rinsing.

Today I have revised those interim spins, the first extended to 9 seconds instead of 6 and the rest have also been extended. Second 12 third 15 (first rinse dose not spin).

Washed some bedding on program 2 and agene no need to intervene, so you can say it is now fully automatic.

Program 2 times

It took 37 minutes to reach 60C
Total wash time 45 minutes to the start of first rinse
Program completed in a total of 78 minutes after 4 rinse and final spin.

Excellent results, good rinsing now the spins have been extended.

Now I need to do some wool.
