Dick S in coming into town to pick up and drop off machines. I am settled in my new apartment in Burien. I will be fixing the Leg O Pork spread on Friday night, October 6th. If any Washington members want to join us, give me an email for details.

Say whaaaaat?

Burien! That town sure sounds familiar.

Wishing you all the best in your new place. You must have gotten unpacked in a hurry!
Do show us photos of the party with that Leg 'O 'Poke.

Corey lives there too. Burien is a coastal city, or on a huge lake. Cannot recall which. I was there many years ago. Washington State is a beautiful place.

Leg of Pork

I move on a three day schedule.
Day #1 Clean the new place and move the crap first, from storage, garage, attic, all that I never want to deal with at the end of the move.
Day #2 Move anything I can put in a box or move by myself and put it away as I go.
Day #3 Rent the truck, hire a couple guys and move the big stuff.
Day #4 Invite friends over and impress them with how it looks like I always lived here.

The new apartment is bigger, 1/3 the cost and in a quiet neighborhood looking at a park. I began a six month course of radioactive anitobodies and three different chemos. I wanted a quieter place to retreat to and renew body and soul.
I replaced the 12CF Whirlpool fridge with a 20CF Amana with the freezer on the bottom (Craigs, $50.00) the new never before turned on Whirlpool plastic BOL dishwasher with a Kitchenaid KDC-21AD, (free off Craigs) and Thursday morning I pick up a Kitchenaid range from a remodel in Marysville, (free off Craigs.) I love the trunk in the Town car. The dishwasher fit with the trunk closed and the stove tucks right in with a bunge to hold the deck from clanking. I put

The dishwasher wnet in another unit here in the building and the new Kenmore BOL coil range goes to another tenant in my building. I now have appliances I am enjoy using and two new fans in my "isn't he a great guy" club.
I'll post pictures as the day of the Pig approaches.

And it was today, that pork leg must have been great! Pork is one of my favorite meats, especially pork roast or tenderloin.

Corey, did you attend? If Appliancevillers lived in my (small) town and there was a gathering I'd be right on it! Unfortunately, though, whenever there's a wash-in/gathering in Bellville (population 3800 or so), it's always at my house. As for the closest member in relation to here, it depends. A couple are in Houston, one is in San Antonio, and then of course there's El Campo.

Looking forward to seeing pictures of the festivities!

Leg Of Pork

I find it a bit odd that no post or inquiry has ever brought the slightest response from the local members in the group. The Northwest Washers must air their dirty laundry in private.

There were 11 friends here who had an involvement in the machines Dick came to get. We had an amazing evening and washed the dished in the FREE Kitchenaid.

A Long Lingering Evening

Jeanne, Susie, Ingrid, Gail, Michael, Jerome, Barry, Mark, Dick, Kelly S and me, Kelly B visited, went junking, and had dinner. They arrived at or around 2:00pm and stayed until after midnight. With sadness at their departure, I loaded the top rack with the glasses and cups. I could have fit in more, but Jeanne had washed a few by hand.

A Kitchenaid Moment

The dishwasher and stove were free from Craigs. I was in heaven using a range with rotary controls. No more holding the touch pad in, missing the setting, starting over etc. The big kicker are wimpy timers that beep twice and leave to burn the food to a crisp. This buzzer would raise the dead and it doesn't give up until you show up. I love the new range. It was absolutely spotless. I couldn't believe how nice it was.
And the same for the Bob load. Just 45 minutes later.

Lingering on

Just as the guests that lingered, so have I with this post. I love to cook, I love company, it is my joy to make my home a safe and welcoming place where my friends not only come, but ask to bring their friends. It just doesn't get any better. And of course, the top is clean and free from any and all debris.

The Box

Nothing like having a bottom in the house. Freezer that is. The fridge at eye level makes it easier to clean.

The Look From Within

The oven bakes very well. It browns beautifully and it was baking all day, with out a hitch.

Oh, those dishes sound mouthwatering! If I was living close to you I surely would have attended. I see you are keeping your reserve stock of coke also next to the fridge. BTW, I have a bottom one too!

Your apartment indeed looks like you have lived there for a while. Take a cook to organize things!

Best wishes for the therapies.

What a wonderful evening....

Thanks for sharing your culinary delights, and also, giving us a peek at your home and appliances. Best of luck in your new home.

Keep the pictures coming...........

Kelly, thanks for sharing the pictures. Love that KDA. Sounds like you had a real feast. What is V8 bread?? Terry

Coke Supplier

I didn't realize, until after posting the picture, the empty sack and box of coke were sitting next to the fridge. If I hadn't already been zombied, at 3:00am, I would have started over. I drink a ton of sugar free, caffienne free cola, since quitting alcohol, but it isn't my style to have things out of order. Seeing the coke on the floor in the picture is a bit like finding out your slip was showing!

Blue Pumpkins, also called Australian Blue Pumpkins, resemble a Turban squash. The flesh is smooth and sweet, like a yam and they cook very quickly.

Blood Orange

Two interesting notes about chemo:
One piece of info says that your taste buds will change to have something acidic like orange or grapefruit juice as it often tastes good.
In the next paragraph you are warned of indegestion, mouth sores and acid reflux and to avoid things like aroange juice>
Kelly

V-8 bread was a product of the 60's when multiple uses were suggested for a product. The recipe for yeast bread has V-8 juice as well as any left over vegetables that are pureed. It is orange in color and very soft textured, like cake.

Kelly, I hope some day I will be able to partake of your wonderful cullinary talents!!! Owner's Manual perfect on the Bob Load. Which KDI is that?

Kelly, great pictures, wish I could have been there! What a BEAUTIFUL vintage KitchenAid. Definitely some Bob-loads for sure.

Now the excitement is building about the new machines...:)

Thanks for the information Kelly, I bet that V8 bread is really tasty. Do you use any special yeast recipe with this?
