Lenor Unstoppable Beads

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

I don't mind a little bit of scent to my laundry, but there's nothing worse than being stuck on a bus or train where someone in the vicinity has used so much product that it smells like they've been bathing in it. A little fragrance is nice, a lot is cloying and sickly. Same goes for deodorant etc. too.

I don't see the point of these unstoppables - it is just another way of conning money out of people.

Re an earlier point - curry stains can be particularly a pain to get out if the recipe has used turmeric, which can also be used as a dye. Not impossible though, even without using all the stain removers that Vanish et al claim we need these days.

Manufacturers still do compare detergents to previous formula's, it's just in very small print ( or small writing in at the bottom of an advert ). P&G and Unilever both do this. EG Persil Small and Mighty's claim that you get "Better stains removal even in a quick wash*" then at the bottom of the bottle "*V's previous formula in the same 30 deg quick wash"

Lenor unstoppables are superb

if used on things you don't soften ie towels as I always tumble them to keep them fluffy and found that persil did not leave much scent and I have all 3 flavours of lenor beads and depending on how much you put it depends how strong the scent is, its lovely having towels that smell as fresh as they are clean ( white towels on 95c ) and the dog bed smells nicer than wet dog so I am impressed with the unstoppable beads and I want to try them out in the Twin tub it will save me doing a softner rinse time will tell.

Thanks very much for that, but...

I have seen similar cautions on such things as paint thinners, and dry cleaning solvents. I just don't think that killing wildlife in the pursuit of stronger smelling laundry is worth it.

These sorts of warnings usually refer to the incorrect disposal of the product, so if you tipped a bottle into a pond or river that is when it could be harmful to aquatic life. I suppose with Unstoppables fish could mistake them for food and eat them? If they caused any damage through normal use they wouldn't be allowed on the market.

Follows EU Regulations for products such as fabric softeners

Sorry but I find P&G`s response on Facebook totally absurd.

Never seen a warning about harm to aquatic life on fabric softeners.
Apart from products as paint thinners it can also be found in the small prints of those scented plug in oil warmers.

I guess the concentraction of scent oils in fabric softener is too low to require the warning about aquatic life.
I`m not happy about the fact that we already have problems with stuff like artifical musk compounds in the food chain. We better should think twice before pouring even more scents down the drain.
But I also have to admit that I might be tempted to try out the Bounce Outdoor Fresh Beads if I could have them over here. I`m sure they smell lovely.

Ariel

I've switched back over to ariel now,I've just put on a whites and lights wash, set at 50c cotton, added a scoop of vanish gold and paused the machine to soak for an hour,I read on the persil website that you can risk setting in heavy stains by washing too hot so I'm giving this method a try just to see how my tea towels come out! I have loads of cleaning cloths and dish cloths but my other half uses the tea towels for wiping up spills on the work surfaces and floor!! He's even managed to get rust stains on one of them! Grrrrrrr lol

Electron1100

Sorry to resurrect the thread.

Based on your recommendations electron1100, I bought a small box of Tesco Colour Powder, a 10 wash size for £1.50, but now concentrated & like Ariel advertises 20% more cleaning powder per gram. It smells gorgeous, nicer than Ariel or Persil Colour actually, & I put a load of clothes on with it. Just general weekly school uniform, underwear, socks & other things. I used Hoovers A59' wash cycle at 40c & the washer is modern, it was new last year but I can safely say that wash results in a modern machine as brilliant. It dissolves rapidly & leaves no gunk in the drawer, foams up quite nicely during the wash & also rinses out quickly. Despite the fact it has no bleaching agents my laundry was left smelling fresh & everything was so clean. I'm so pleased with it.
