Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Could this perhaps be one of the Estate series washers? I remember seeing a pair for sale with a control panel that looked like the one above.

how many speeds does this machine have?

I see the stamp in the upper left corner of the console.
States 4 cycles and I can't make out how many speeds the machine has.

most likely a 2 speed.....

if it was just a single speed, they don't usually post that....similar to what a Maytag Fabric-matic would post, but would note if a machine was two or three speed...

some machines would list 4 speeds, not really 4, but they figure, since its a reversing 2 speed, sounds better to say 4 speed for a selling gimmick..

I always thought 'Estate' to be somewhat a basic BOL machine, or at least the generic model like the Galaxy.....but have noticed quite a few that were feature packed...

I remember the Pace membership warehouse chain, it was our first in town before a Sam's Club opened. Pace was a K-Mart company. I think they're all long gone now, ours closed 15-20 years ago. Shopping for one, I needed very little from a warehouse club at the time, and I don't remember appliances. Sam's club has carried Estate appliances on and off over the years, now having only cheap chest freezers and small appliances. Costco has a sample display of LG but little or nothing in stock. This is a tough appliance market, not easy to compete with the juggernaut retailer that will undercut Lowes at a loss just to keep (credit) business in house.

Super Capacity WP DD Washer

Hi Robert, this is what you should have purchased as a back-up washer instead of the  MT, a WP DD washer is more durable, larger capacity, easier to repair and more water and energy efficient to use than a helical drive MT.

The WP DD washer is also easier to move and reinstall with its lighter weight and self-leveling legs.

.
Here is a pic of my Maytag. This transmission i believe is refered to as an "orbital" not a "helical".
I think you may think i have a different machine than i actually do.
We had a DD whirlpool we sold when we got the SQ machines. It was much louder, held no more than this Maytag, but was very long lasting. From my little experience so far i prefer the Maytag; it feels smoother in its operation.

Hi Robert,  I knew actually which MT Washer you have, yours is a helical drive washer [ all MT two belt automatics are helical drive ] The WP DDs hold 22 gallons of water compared to your MTs 19 and with the Dual action Agitator you can wash about 1/3 more clothing and actually have them turn over, the WP also spins faster and does not spin all the dirty through the clothing when draining.

Yes I agree the MTs do run a little more quietly, but as an older repairman told me its because they aren't doing much, LOL.
