...WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM SUNDAY EVENING THROUGH MONDAY MORNING...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN UPTON HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WATCH... WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM SUNDAY EVENING THROUGH MONDAY MORNING.

SNOW IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN SUNDAY EVENING AND INCREASE IN INTENSITY SUNDAY NIGHT. THE SNOW MAY BE HEAVY AT TIMES LATE SUNDAY NIGHT INTO EARLY MONDAY BEFORE TAPERING OFF MONDAY AFTERNOON. THERE IS THE POTENTIAL FOR 6 TO 12 INCHES OF SNOWFALL BY THE TIME THE SNOW ENDS. THERE IS STILL SOME UNCERTAINTY AS TO THE SNOW AMOUNTS... DEPENDING ON THE TRACK THE STORM TAKES.

A WINTER STORM WATCH MEANS THERE IS A POTENTIAL FOR SIGNIFICANT SNOW... SLEET...OR ICE ACCUMULATIONS THAT MAY IMPACT TRAVEL. CONTINUE TO MONITOR THE LATEST FORECASTS.

Well, I knew there was a reason I decided not to take the Christmas tree down! :)

And it snowed!

We're at about 7" so far. Looks like it might be done, but the day's not over yet! They're calling for "few snow showers" through this evening. Here are a couple of views out the back door (Yes, Toggle, I've got 7" right outside my back door!).

peaceful.......

I love snow. That is beautiful. Thanks for sharing. I love going for a walk late at night when it has snowed. It is so quiet outside with that blanket of snow on it. I hope we have at least one good snow here this year.

Snow Laughing Matter

Ole and Lena were sitting down to their usual cup of morning coffee listening to the weather report coming over the radio. "There will be three to five inches of snow today and a snow emergency has been declared. You must park your cars on the odd-numbered side of the street."

Ole got up from his coffee and replies, "Jeez, OK."

Two days later, again they both are sitting down with their cups of morning coffee and the weather forecast is, "There will be two to four inches of snow today and a snow emergency has been declared. You must park your cars on the even-numbered side of the street."

Ole got up from his coffee and replies, "Jeez, OK."

Three days later, again they both are sitting down with their cups of coffee and the weather forecast is, "There will be six to eight inches of snow today and a snow emergency has been declared. You must park your cars on the ..." and then the power went out and Ole didn't get the rest of the instructions. He says to Lena, "Jeez, what am I going to do now, Lena ?"

Lena replies, "Aw, Ole, just leave the car in the garage."

Perc, that's GORGEOUS!

But I got PUNKED....only a few flurries before daybreak here. :(

Oh, well, man plans and God laughs...

When my family moved from the New Haven, Ct. area to SF in the mid-60's, we all missed the four seasons tremendously. Well, we kids missed the snow, but my Mom always said she didn't miss it at all! But the California weather seemed so boring, especially in the SF sunset district, where there is generally high overcast sky from May to October. Sunny days are relatively rare there, and then the next season is overcast and rainy. What a change!

But now I've gotten used to California weather and it's "seasons", which are Mediterranean and quite different from those of the the Northeast and much of the rest of the country. As soon as I could, however, I moved to the sunnier side of the Bay, and while we get our overcast days, I can grow citrus and hot peppers here while it's almost impossible to do that in the western part of SF.

I do miss that great time in the spring when things begin to thaw and there's that snap in the air and the first flowers emerging. Easter was always a wonderful time, in my memory, with the world magically changing from white and dirty slush to green and fragrant flowers, the magnolia trees in full bloom, and people dressing in their finest to go to Easter services.

Marietta, GA

Snowing thick and fast here, with some sleet mixed in. It's not supposed to accumulate much, but it wouldn't be the first time our local weather people have been wrong about that.
