~Toggles are you sure you're having 14 inches up there...hmmmm ?

It is not always convenient or proper to measure.

Rich, Darren. Sam:
'Tis murder on one's back unless one has mechanical assistance/assistants.

Lots of blowing went on too.

50-60 MPH winds and a blizzard warning for my county.

Yes, not all that impressive in size/quantity.

Canada you say

nothing here again today I'm afraid, grass is green. I read something in the paper yesterday that here in Sarnia we are the second least likely place in all of Canada to get snow, yet just a scant few miles east or west they can get royally dumped on. Course that wasn't the case last winter, we got dumped on LOL

Here in Europe winter has struck too. Amsterdam got relatively little snow but enough to reduce traffic significantly so that it was wonderfully quiet today.

It is uncertain whether we will have a white Christmas. Temperatures are rising and we are having a thunderstorm right now.

here Milan .....

It started this afternoon , now (1:00 am) we have 30 cm of very light, dry snow (temp has never been higher than -5 °C since last friday).
Lots of traffic, no one trust public transports here, they are normally on late ... go figure with some snow.

Touch wood, no problem with electric power as our french neighbors have : Provence and Azur Coast were in a black out this afternoon.
Touch wood again, cause we import from them a lot of electric power ....... :

"Gotta say you Americans... gotta love how you just get on with it... not like the whimpy British where everything just ground to a halt over a tiny bit of snow!!"

Well, in some parts of America, there isn't much choice, unless you want to hibernate until Spring (which I wouldn't mind, actually, given enough provisions and the right company, LOL). Here in Iowa, there's about two feet of snow, more coming down, and it will be this way until March.

In other American regions, snow is not very frequent, so those places can be shut down, since people don't have a lot of experience dealing with it. In my native Atlanta, in the south, an inch of snow brings the entire city to a halt. That's as it should be, because if you don't know what you're doing in snow, getting out in it can create a danger to yourself and others.

Since Britain is an island warmed by the Gulf Stream, there's not much reason you lot should be very experienced with major snowfall, and you should not be too hard on yourselves for not getting out in it like a bunch of crazy Yanks. Think of staying in as "health and safety," and enjoy the extra hol.

By the way, isn't it great that Gareth Thomas came out? Fine man, and an excellent example to younger gay men.

Yeh it is great that he came out, my bf has just come out to his dad and told him about me I think he will use him coming out as an example that it isnt that rare lol.

OH and yes I would love to live somewhere like you do as I love the snow and cold weather!

Its winter... deal with it is what I say to people!
