Rrrichuud!
"Gotta say you Americans... gotta love how you just get on with it... not like the whimpy British where everything just ground to a halt over a tiny bit of snow!!"
Well, in some parts of America, there isn't much choice, unless you want to hibernate until Spring (which I wouldn't mind, actually, given enough provisions and the right company, LOL). Here in Iowa, there's about two feet of snow, more coming down, and it will be this way until March.
In other American regions, snow is not very frequent, so those places can be shut down, since people don't have a lot of experience dealing with it. In my native Atlanta, in the south, an inch of snow brings the entire city to a halt. That's as it should be, because if you don't know what you're doing in snow, getting out in it can create a danger to yourself and others.
Since Britain is an island warmed by the Gulf Stream, there's not much reason you lot should be very experienced with major snowfall, and you should not be too hard on yourselves for not getting out in it like a bunch of crazy Yanks. Think of staying in as "health and safety," and enjoy the extra hol.
By the way, isn't it great that Gareth Thomas came out? Fine man, and an excellent example to younger gay men.
