German has four cases

Which makes things very easy for native English speakers who grew up before the 'objective' case abomination of the past 30 years.

Like hell we we don't distinguish between Accusative and Dative in English. Just, we use syntactical grammar to make the distinction or transitive verbs.

Maybe 12,000,000 Germans emigrated to USA 1870-1920 in order to flee German grammar ;) (meine Ururgrosseltern waren in 1878 aus Ostpreußen angekommen----sparsam, fleißig, pünktlich, und sehr, sehr DICKKÖPFIG)

One aspect of grammar for which I am ridiculed: Konjunktiv I:

"Panthera sagte, daß die Speise im neuen Restaurant sehr gut seien (Meinungsfrage)"

versus

"Panthera sagte, das der neue Restaurant Montags geschlossen ist" (Tatsache)

They just laugh and insist that NO ONE uses Konjunktiv I in spoken German any more. They would just use "sind".
