Let's make a timeline of Westinghouse Slant Fronts!

Today's HE front-loaders have the advantage of enzyme-laden detergents formulated specifically for them. Plus, the detergent concentration in the wash water is far greater than it was in vintage Westys. Today's machines also have wash times that are 3-5 times longer. I must say, of all the sets you have John (combo52), that 1959 Westinghouse pair (L-1000 and D-1000) are the ones I envy you the most on. If you ever find a second set, I call dibs. LOL!

No one will ever convince me

That the old front loaders aren't a million times better than the new stuff, for one, the new ones don't half wash because they don't have nearly enough water to do anything, especially not enough to rinse,the new ones spend more time stopping and reversing, where the old WH and Bendix actually washed...one direction like they should, If I could get a nice WH or Bendix pair that were in running shape, I would use them as daily drivers, The only thing that the new ones do well is spin the clothes dry, and I personally DONT want my clothes spun that hard, it sets wrinkles if you line dry them, the old washers didn't spin them nearly as dry, but you had far less wrinkles...but im biased, I HATE anything less than 50 years old!But they tangle, you say, yes, and that means they actually DO something!!

Jerry's pink set are probably a close second to John's in my book. Both are quite beautiful. I love my 53/54 models, but I wish I could go back to about 1970 or so with a ton of money. I'd buy buy a warehouse and just start collecting what I want, 53, 57, and 59 Westknghouse pairs (check), Maytag 702 and 806 pair (check), 51, 57, 62 Kenmores (check) 59 Whilpools (check), mobile made (check), 1957 and 1962 kitchen aide portable dishwashers (check), Magnavox concert grand (check), Fisher President (check), A few more old stereos and Tvs (check, check, check). Lol. Then I could open it up 45-50 years later and poof, it was all there waiting. Ah to dream.
