It seems that the thread Fred started on coffee makers has disappeared so I thought it would be fun to revive it! As most of you know I love coffee makers. Greg (Gansky1) sent me two beautiul ones to add to my collection! First on the Left is the wonderful Jet-O-Matic. You should hear this one when it is perking. If anyone has any history on this one I would love to hear about it. I believe it might have been sold by Salad Master Cookware at one time. I would love to know the theory behind it. I am sure they had some wonderful reason why it was the best! You can hear this baby all over the house whey it's perking. The one on the right is the fabulous Golden Cory! I remember these well from the 50's. In our area they were popular gifts for 50th wedding anniversaries. I polished up the gold and it is beautiful! Thanks so very much Greg!!!

Before i became adicted to coffee,we had a 12 cup Pyrex stovetop percolater I adored.then , my g'mom had a Sunbeam vacuum coffee maker and my Mom broke the stem in our Pyrex and got a filter drip one you had to pour boiling hot water into.I moved and had the Pyrex models from 12 down to 6 cup capacities.I had many of the "Mr Coffee style drip coffee makers and prefer filterd over perked coffees.About 5 years ago,I noticed my friend,Lisa, had this neat Hamilton Beach coffee maker with no coffee pot.Just a press you push your mug up against and get fresh brewed coffee.I bought one and fell in love with it.I had my first one two years and saw a new improved model, bought 5 of them and gave my old one to my neighbor and four to friends and family for Xmas. They all love them especialy those who had to replace their coffee pots that shattered or cracked.I highly recomend them. They have auto shut off and are dishwasher safe(upper rack).I grind my beans around 9PM and set up the brew time for 6AM.The aroma wakes me up.I grab my mug (I Love lucy) and press it to get my first cup and turn on the news.Ahh fresh brewed!love it!

A Royal Rochester Percolator

Found at the Brimfield Fair in July, this outsourced percolator is badged by the Royal Rochester Company, of Rochester, NY. This was a subsidiary of the Robeson Company, who made the small inexpensive plastic appliances of the seventies and early eighties. It's in mint condition, and makes a great cup of coffee. (Especially with Eight O'Clock beans ground in a seventies KitchenAid Coffee Mill.) Thanks for a fun thread Terry!

Lordly, Lavish, Lovely Gifts
Somewheres in all my junque here I have that knife sharpener featured in the ad.. Don't have the perc though but the competing Dormeyer golden model 20.

The Jet O Matic's a great percolator even for the name itself.

Terry do you have any coffee grinder collection?

Bobby, I really like your Royal Rochester, as you said it was an outsourced item, it was made by Dominion.
And I know what you mean about good perk coffee with Eight O'Clock coffee, ground in a KitchenAid Coffee mill, mine is Aunt Thresa's 1954 KitchenAid coffeemill

Cory

Im feel lucky to have 2 of those wonderful Corys.Yes they make some of the best coffee. One thing Ive noticed about them, alot Ive seen at thrift shops the plastic piece above the dial is gone, where the light is,Thanks Bobby

Tlee618/Greg, The Saladmaster Jet-0-Matic was iirc one of those free gifts that came with a set of SaladMaster cookware, My Aunts set came with a deep fryer in the 50's, it was aluminum not stainless steel, at times there were sets of s/s silverware, I am not sure what year the oil core skillet came along. The cookware was mfr. in Texas, and i think if you look at the bottom of the Jet-o-Matic, most of them were mfr. in of all places Biloxi Ms.
Bobbyderegis, My Grandmother had a pot like your Royal Rochester, i had searched on the bay for one like it in the past, The base on hers was a copper/bronze color. arthur

Those are some nice coffee makers; the Universal is especially beautiful. My Aunt Eloise and Uncle TW had one of the Jet-O-Matics back in the '70's, I remember the unusual noise it made. They lived on the MS Gulf Coast at that time, and knew someone who worked where they were made in Biloxi.

Bobby, I love that Royal Rochester, such a regal sounding name!! Rick that Universal set is gorgeous!!! One just has to wonder what elegant dinner parties it was used at over the years!! Pete, the only grinder I have is the retro Kitchen Aid. Alr, thanks for the information on Salad Master, and you are right it does say on the bottom made in Biloxi, MS. Terry
