Who remembers PUNCH Detergent???

Does anyone recall the now defunct detergent from Colgate called "PUNCH"? Sheila MacRae used to be the spokesperson for that back around 1969-1970. We had it here up until about 1988, but by then, it'd been reformulated to be a bargain detergent (how dare them for doing that!!!) The ad campaign was about how "PUNCH put the power of a pre-soak" incorporated into a detergent.

Arm&Hammer was a great detergent until i noticed that it was caking up the holes in the spin basket of my previous washer.

I personally like Tide and All detrergents.Great cleaners, though Tide tends to be pricey,i usually get the 10 pound box of Tide and it will take me for a couple of months.

Costco Makes A Good Detergent

I really like Costco's Kirkland Signature Ultra powder; it cleans well without excessive suds; has a nice fragrance and it's cheap. Unfortunately, I'm not spending $45 a year for a Costco membership because of a detergent.
As a result, I have hoarded bottles of Purex With Bleach Alternative liquid in the regular scent; it's nearly as good as Costco and I can get it on sale just about anywhere.

Love those powders!

I'll try anything (powder) once. As far as a fav detergent - it's Tide w/bleach hands down, followed a close second by Gain. I love anything with a great fragrance to bring back those childhood memories of phosphate and perfume laden detergents!

I've noticed that they are selling Ajax powder for $2.99 at Wal-Mart. I told Austin that I would pick some up on my next visit. I know it's a sacrifice just going in there, but if you can "scoop" up a few boxes of Ajax....why not!

Tide with Hydrogen Peroxide

The other day I was reorganizing a shelf in the utility room and came across an "almost empty" box of Tide with Hydrogen Peroxide. I opened the lid and it "hit" me! The scent is so similar to that of the old Tide back in the 50s and 60s. It's certainly not the same but very close. I had forgotten all about that type of Tide.
I was wondering if there is any geographical area in the States where this type of Tide is still available.
I still use Tide "Original Scent" but the fragrance is nowhere close to that of the old Tide and I'm bound and determined that one of these days I'm going to have a similar fragrance to that old Tide lingering in my clothes and old Kenmore washers once again! ((--::

I used Cheer until the "ultra" came out, then switched to Fresh Start and used it until it became unavailable in this area. Then, we used Tide and SA-8 until, for some reason, Tide started breaking me out. My Amway guy, actually sold me the SA-8 without trying to recruit me. He passed away, and it became too much of a hassle to get it.

Now, I use original scent Gain. Here, it is less expensive than Tide, and I really like the smell.

Method is not the same as the Target brand. Method is a little company out of California (SFO area?) that Target distributes. Have seen the detergent show up in the laundromat, but it's the softener that I really like.

Yeah, Lever is a behemoth, but as far as laundry market share, no one holds a candle to P&G here in the States. I'll stick with my ALL...

All the American C-P products smell the same to me -- Fab, Dynamo, Ajax, liquid or powder, it all has the same basic scent. Same with Purex and Arm & Hammer.

I remember the smell of Punch very vividly and would love for that one to come back. Oxydol was another scent favorite, especially in hot water.

BURST DETERGENT

Spiralactivator...you're correct! There was a detergent called "BURST." Colgate made that one in the late 60's to compete with P&G's "DASH." It was marketed as a "low-suds powerhouse." I don't think it was out very long. I did hear back in the '80's that it was still made for institutional use, though I'm not sure it still is or not. But have you noticed that Colgate's detergents haven't really been huge sellers? And PeterH770, you're right about Colgate's detergents in that they do seem to smell pretty much alike. I've always thought all their detergents have a "loud" smell!
