A Happy Ending in the making!

Spoke to the seller today and he apologized for the trouble we were having and offered to refund the money for the board.
I know he has had this thing serviced in the past because the back inspection panel had been installed backwards. All the warning labels and wiiring diagrams were facing the wrong way and the original screw marks were on the wrong side when I went to remove it yesterday. Be that as it may, I will collect the money and go from there. We really like the machine and didn't want to give it up especially for the price we paid.
Now let's see how it holds up!
 
the warranty is 2 years parts 1 year labor on the entire unit and the motor is covered (parts only)the following 5 years.You need the serial number and a call to L.G.to find out the date of manufacturing.Then,call the seller and ask them their date of pchse.That is when the warranty kicks in.If they did not regester it,you may want to try and see if L.G.will repair it for free after you,yourself call and regester it.I did that once with a combo I found at the junk yard!L.G.honored it after I pitched a royal bi--h on how I did not understand why my friend who gave it to me should have to give me a receipt and make me find out how much they paid for it.After that and a 6 month wait for my part,they increased the coverage another year!!!
 
Oh those parts

I work for Hobart and cannot imagine waiting so long for parts from any manufacturer. All the horror stories including yours says that LG does not have their act together at all here. I am amazed at how such big operations like HHGregg and HD sell their products. must be extremely profitable, but they are pissing customers off and I foresee low repeat sales by offended customers. I will have to pull the machine out and get the serial number and see what happens.
 
The repair company hat L.g recomended,L&R,said that the reason L.G gave them for the length of ime it took them to send the needed part was that the manufacturer of the part itself was on strike!
 
So Far, So good!

Well, the seller graciously refunded me the cost of the main control board so I actually got a fantastic deal on this machine. By some strange occurence, it has continued to perform perfectly since my last update but I am going to change that board if it happens again. Seems to really do a nice job on the clothes even using non HE detergent which I finally bought today since it now looks like we will keep the washer.
I can't thank all of you enough for the help and advice you always freely provide. One of these days I will have the pleasure of meeting some of you at a wash-in. Or maybe a Dishwash-in!

Try www.repairclinic.com. I broke the door latch on my LG dishwasher accidentally, and they had a new one to me within 6 days by mail. They had to order it direct from LG, but since the new machine warranty wasn't going to cover it anyway, I just bought one from them for $22 and installed it myself. (Butter knife fell out of my hand and landed square inside of the door latch slot on the door...sprung it backwards so I couldn't lock the door.)

They said there is rarely a wait for parts as they have multiple sources they can get parts from, as long as it's not a warranty issue.

Andy, just wanted you to know that the service manual you sent me as referenced above came in handy today when the LG died again.

Was able to troubleshoot it out of the manual and it is back in service again. Now let's see how long it runs from now 'til whenever!
 
think I got it solved!

The machine died again on Monday morning.. evrything functioned but the drum would not turn. eventually it would lead to a "LE" motor overload error.

Pulled off the control panel cover and check my voltages at the motor connectors and lo and behold, they were what they were supposed to be. Plugged the connector back in and the machine started working.. for a few seconds!
When I took off the connector again, I noticed how loose it seemed to be so I took a really tiny screwdriver and bent the molex connector pins a bit and they fit tighter into the connector receptacle on the main board. The machine seemed to work fine after that and if I pulled the connector out while it was supposed to be turning, it would stop. Plug it in and it started again.
Maybe that will be the end of the mystery but the main board is still an option 'til we feel satisfied that that was the original problem.
 
Update! SUDSLOCK!

Well so far so good! The machine has worked flawlessly. A few loads since I tightened the connectors and no problems.

Last nite we did a load of my filthy uniforms and apparantly 3/4 of a measure of regular Tide(non-HE) was enough to make whipped cream out of the little water that is used in this machine.. Not to worry though!

At 32 minutes into the 56 minute cycle and at the first rinse, the machine went into suds control mode! It kept adding and draining water to the load until the suds disappeared, maybe added about 15-20 minutes of that routine and by the time it came to the final rinse, the water was clear on the viewing glass. I am impressed!
 
Suds Lock Routine

Yes....I forgot about this since I only use HE detergents. However, when I used some of the Mexican detergents, this has happened. If you would like a little more water in the normal cycle for the wash, (wash only), you can first set it to delicate which adds much more water, then power off and turn back on and select the normal cycle. It will pump out some of the water, but not all of it. SO..you will have a little more water in the machine. It is a pretty smart machine. lol

I just replaced my old Neptue (POS) dryer with the LG (WM0452) gas dryer. Now this is a really fine dryer. Very solid, quiet running, and does and excellent job drying. It even sounds very solid on the start up. However...I did take the 10 year maintenance contract out for 250.00, since there have been repair and service problems. I have only had the washer serviced once, and had no problems.
 
lg tromm cold cleaning power

I have an LG tromm matching laundry pair, all electric. They launder just about everything I've thrown at it. As for the cleaning power of cold water, I remember the time when my mom and I have done a heavily soiled load of dark colors in the Spring of 2008. The clothes were very dirty and smelly. We used Gain laundry detergent and fabric softener. The were the kind designed for high-efficiency washers. We set it on cold/cold, cotton/normal and heavy soil. I can say that a little water will get tough stains out, because wen we transferred the load to the matching dryer, they were really clean. I put the matching dryer on heavy duty. They came out soft too. I believe what was happening was that the cold water was being forced into the clothes as they tumbled, loosening and lifting dirt with the roller jets and baffles which provide incredible cleaning power even with the use of cold water. Mine also has water recirculation, so the darks were completely saturated. It just goes to show that cold water and a little bit of it can absolutely pack a punch. I still use my mom's matching lg tromm to wash my clothes.
