LG=Life's Good? I think not!

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Final Update

Well, as I said before, I tried to fiddle around with it some more. I tugged and jiggled in vain to try to put more "tilt" on this A/C. Because the thing is so tight fitting in the opening, it did not seem as I was having any affect at all. I must have done something right, however, as it is now working flawlessly! So well that it hardly even puts out any condensate into the bucket-the slinger(condensor fan blade) is able to get rid most all the water. I did not make any further modifications. I am still annoyed that LG farms out their call center to a third world country, but that's life in the world economy. It was clear that they had no intention of ever coming to deal with it.

It is rather shocking the cooling we use here-That office at work is about 15' x 30' and has 2 220 volt A/C units total 33,000 BTU. Our cottage is under 500 sq. ft and I have 2 120 volt units totaling 21,000 BTU. Our whole house in Minnesota was cooled with 2/3 that power!

Yes, I did that with my LGmore AC, just used an ancient piece of Plexiglas to brace it from underneath!

And yes, regarding the call centers....although I do enjoy hearing the rep say "Hi, I'm VERRR-ONICA!" in a Bangalore accent!

What amazes me though is they can manufacture these things way the heck over in China, package them all up, ship them half way round the world, warehouse them, sort them, distribute them all over N.America and sell a little 5k BTU unit for under $100 or a little microwave for $29-$39. You pay more for a lousy shirt (made in Bangladesh) than some of this stuff. In the words of the ever popular Lou Dobbs, it's mind boggling.

Kenmore a/c

Our house has central a/c but the upstairs gets extremily hot and i use window a/c's to keep it cool. last year My dad had bought a little kenmore a/c from lg and it lasted one season and at the begining of this summer took it up to my room and put it in turned it on took my dog on a walk and 30min later I went up to my room and the thing kept bowing out room-temp air. We then got a frigidaire and it is an OK unit but very loud. Then we purchased a kenmore low-profile kenmore a/c by lg and I love it! but please belive me on this! friedrich is starting to put thier name on lg air conditioners! you should have bought a fedders. same with ge they are starting to put thierr label on lg's too1

thank you.andy

For The Record..

I have had exactly the same kind of service experience with LG I bought Two identical window units for the company I work for one works great...the other does not The service is very poor They did however send a guy out to tell me theres "nuthing" wrong with It...My advice is..its a crapshoot you may get lucky...And I hope You Do!!!! on the other hand If you dont you end up dealing with it on your own I sure do miss the days when things were made in america serviced by american's . People had jobs and were able to support thier families with ONE income I really dont see where NAFTA has helped anyone but the "other Countries with Cheap labor

This is such a tragedy, because LG products are IMHO really well designed. They could honestly take over the market in a few years if they don't build a bad rep service-wise.

Their prices have been creeping up as well....

LG

I want to start a campaign against LG because I have had so many service issues. For those who are interested you can read in Delux section (LG service nightmare). I want to find a way to go public and make them look bad because of below poor service. Any ideas anyone?

How about the Bureau of Consumer Affairs?

Supposedly the Asian conglomerates keep a close eye on epinions after learning from the Neptune disaster, but that's anecdotal.

Another thing you could try is contacting Asa Aarons, the consumer advocacy reporter on WNBC-Channel 4's six-o'clock news. Strange dude, who may very well be a shill bought and paid for by CU, but it might be worth a shot....maybe "Shame On You!" as well?

LG's corporate offices are located in Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey. Maybe a "home visit" is in order....this technique actually worked for my mother when she descended on Volkswagen!

I live in Florida, and contacted the Department of Business and Professional Regulation (via the Attorney General) when Home Depot massacred my bathroom and then decided they were not going to do anything about it. (After months of intense battling, I was indeed refunded for the piss-poor work I paid them to redo my floor.)

I am sure there is something similar in your state that could hopefully assist you with the LG issues.
