Initial impression: "It's big!"
2nd impression: Once in place, it doesn't seem overly large--it fits. With it's mid-way black band and 2, large, shaded glass doors that look black, it's a quiet, dignified, tech look. Like that both drums have a light.
3rd impression: It's quiet. The noisiest sound is when water is entering. All other sounds are subtle and serious. The dryer's deep hum also has a serious quality. (I haven't washed jeans or button/zipper items yet. The banging of those metal parts hitting the drums will become the prevailing sound.)

I watched much of the first cycle I ran--a rinse & spin of some rag-towels. The rinsing was quite through with quite a variety of tubbing--the LG "6Motion Technology".

That rinse & spin cycle seemed long, but it certainly did a serious job of it and looked and sounded good while doing it, so, fine!

All spins I have witnessed so far were very smooth--not even sure there was a resonance effect during the speed up or down.

Ordered it from a local/national dealer half-a-continent away since no one local had it or knew when they would get it and my old washer died after limping for 2 months.

I never bought something like this from a far away company, but I was getting anxious. They shipped it the next day & it arrived on the 5th day (which included a weekend). Hired a Handyman from HomeAdvisor, as suggested by the dealer. The installation is straight-forward and went well.

So, I'm pleased and would recommend.

P.S. The baffles in the wash drum seem to be stainless, like the drum. How common is that?

Looks Good

As I have said before A one piece stack makes much more sense than stacking two separate machines.

It certainly is a little polished then a Speed Queen stack, it would be fun to put an LG and a SQ stack SXS in one of the many installations we have where we have 2 or more SQ socks and see how they compare and hold up.

I am going to keep an eye on these and may use them in at least some light use residential installations.

Hi Jaums, I though you were trying to get the new GE FL pair, this is almost certainly a better choice, I have not seen a single GE laundry appliance that impressed me since around 1994.

I have to say

LG is knocking it out of the park with their new laundry line. From the premium looks with their new tempered glass doors and stainless tub lifters to their quiet operation, huge cycle selection and remote capabilities with the app. Their new line isn't just pretty, they actually clean and rinse wonderfully.

This is just beautiful! Congrats on your new machines!

I must echo that LG machines are really getting better and better. I have a 2015 12kg 6 Motion True Steam FL, and its just amazing, with the 6 motion and the recirculation jet. The washing and rinsing is just great.

If they were to bring this style of machine into SA, I would definitely start dropping hints at my fiance!

Can't wait to hear more of your thoughts on your new machine!

Day 2

Still learning. David mentioned it has few cycles. True tho if you use the app to turn it on it offers several more, select one and it will send it to the machine immediately.

John, yes I first selected the new GE FL with fresh vent, but the capabilities of the dd motors & turno of the LGs grabbed my attention while I waited endlessly for the GE. So the LG wm3900 until it was being discontinued, then wm4000 until this tower suddenly looming got my attention.

Keep Us Updated!

Please let us know how things are going periodically. I will be in the market for a new machine likely in the near future.
I am curious to see that they now require TurboWash on as a default for Normal and Heavy Duty cycles. Not sure I like that.

John , Why does it make more sense to have a laundry tower than stackables?. It seems to me that it’s cheaper for consumers to have stackable’s as you only need to buy a stacking kit.

What a nice looking set...

Do you have the option to keep the lights on while it's running? On my washer and dryer, the lights go out as soon as the cycle starts. When you open the door they come on. So, I get why that happens. Most people wouldn't care to see what's going on while its running but for those of us who would like to have the lights on for the "main event" I'd love a machine with a switch for turning the lights on and off as you might want. Does one exist?

Ralph, LG washer that have a light switch on the panel, can turn the light on while the machine is running. The light turns off 4-5 minutes after bein on according to user manuals.

On my Duet, the light will stay on indefinitely if I turn it on during the cycle. When I open the door after a cycle, the light will automatically turn off after about 5 minutes, if I don't turn it off myself.

I prefer

to have the turbowash on so everything gets saturated quickly. I'd like to have laundry detergent, bleach and fabric softener evenly distributed. I also like to have my clothes efficiently rinsed. I wish there were youtube videos of the lg washtower in action.

What Bob says about the tub lights is correct--holding one of the buttons on the panel for 3 seconds turn the light on for 4 minutes.

I agree the light should be able to be on for the duration of the cycle. It must be an LED . . ..

As far as the Turbo I feel like there are very few instances when it would be detrimental to have it on.

As for this all-in-one vs stacking, my long-time thought that with individual machines you don't have to replace both if something goes wrong with one, but, when stacked you probably do because you can't stack machines not designed to be stacked with each other.

My situation is such that the machines are out in the open (as opposed to in a laundry room or closet) so having miss-matched machines would drive me crazy. So when my 2005 Kenmore washer died recently, here I am finding it necessary to also replace the still-working dryer.

I would love to see a video of dismantling this machine as for repairs. I would hope repairs can be done without removing the dryer, and be done by one Tech.

Having all controls in the middle is very convenient. I'm fairly tall but could not read everything on my previous stacked dryer without a step stool.
