Spirit 2º Generation

Hi. Here in Mexico this model just arrived. It´s called Spirit 2º generation. It´s a "42 lb" and 1º generation is "38 lb". They are the same thing than Rocky models without the control panel in the back. It has the 6 motion and all the features that Rocky´s have.

I have had a Rocky for 2 years without any trouble. Last week after watching the New Samsung TL washer and how it´s built, I opened mine and saw that the pieces where the tub is suspended in each corner are reinforced. This parts are made of the same rigid plastic as the outer tub, but it´s way thicker than outer tubs. I have washed King Sized comforters and twins, several times in the normal, Heavy, sanitary cycle, and hasn´t happened anything weird. It washes, IMHO, extremely good without tearing or wearing clothes as traditional TL washer do and it doesn´t use that amount of water as well. This Rocky replaced a new Maytag Bravos MCT washer and dryer, they were more than lemons. 1 time I ran a huge load on the Maytag, and some clothes came out dry. It says they are huge capacity, 40 pounder, but if you spected good results, your should wash just 3 pairs of jeans or just 3 shirts or t-shirts. Maytag Bravos is the most stupid washer I have ever known and after 8 months of use and using all the cycles and options it was returned to the store and replaced with the LG Rocky´s which make me very, very happy.

The Maytag Bravos

Ahh that POS. Its also known as the Kenmore Oasis and The Whilpool Cabrio. It has a floating basket design. They had bearing problems (i have done so many i can replace the bearings in 35mins) Board Problems (because whirlpool doesnt make there own stuff) Suspension problems (Constant unbalanced load error easy fix new suspesnions)
Drain pumps injesting coins and clothes going over the basket into the tub. And the dreaded F51 (Motor RPS Failure) whole harness has to be replaced....What a pain

For me it has been the best top loader in washing and rinsing without using too much water. Rinse takes place for about 10 minutes using some motions, but you should choose the fabric softener option. If you don´t, then it will rinse with tap new water by a jet fall, but doesn´t rinse that good. For people with allergies, this could be dangerous. Overall, for us, it has been a great washer

@ The Sears Kid

Sears Kid: How is this new LG washer also known as the Whirlpool Cabrio which isn't the same maker? I know Maytag is owned by Whirpool but they don't own LG. I had the Cabrio. Broke down! Now own this LG and they don't run quite the same at all.

Fool123: Check LG website and Best Buy in the USA. They have reviews. It's a new machine but so far the minimal amount of reviews are quite positive. I'd have to say that I notice some shaking with this washer but nothing extreme. Probably because the spin cycle is so powerful and the cement flooring it's leveled on has no give.

Sorry @ sears kid

I see now you are talking about the Maytag Bravos! Sorry. My bad! I'm relieved too now that I see the new LG washer isn't being compared to the piece of crap Cabrio. haha

@ fool 123

The washer isn't compact. it's standard. it rinses quite well and you can use even less then the recommended amount of HE detergent. I find filling to Level 1 on the cap is too much for a medium load. If you are short like myself, you may need a stepping stool to reach clothes at the bottom. a cool feature aside from the control panel being in front is that the lid folds under to allow venting after use rather than leaving the lid up! and this machine spins FAST and efficiently. It's a great washer for it's very reasonable price. Too bad it's significantly more expensive in Canada than here in the USA.

Whirlpools and LGs

I´m really sorry to hear that people believe that Whirlpool makes LGs. Whirlpool owns Maytag and now they produce appliances by the names of Maytag, Whirlpool, Kitchen Aid, Amana, Inglis but LG´s. This is a huge insult for LG. Whirlpool doesn´t produce any reliable appliances anymore. By changing the transmission design they sent the reliabilty to the trash and it´s a shame that all the brands made by Whirlpool are now the same thing. Feel sorry for Whirlpool!!!

me i can say i remember when appliance where reliable and lasted longer sadly today its no longer the case i have some 10 year old duet, sets but there days are numbered as daily drivers as they are going on there last leg they where bough in summer 2004 june 1, in a few days they will be 10 years old i am lucky they still work but when it comes to. Drying clothes thats where i am saying that both washer and dryer are on there last legs, because when the dryer breaks both the washer and dryer will be replace. So if you went something thats reliable today better look on classified ads for some vintage washer 1950 to 1990 those where reliable washers and dryers.
