I got a new bottle of dish detergent

I was going around to some thrift shops yesterday and decided to stop in at Big Lots just to see what was there. I noticed a bottle of Dawn Simple Pleasures apple spice dish detergent. It was just one dollar! It has an odd smelling air freshner on the bottom of the base, but it looks really neat! I was in Wal-mart this morning picking up some cat litter and noticed that their Simple Pleasures dish detergent is selling for $2.48... it would seem that I got quite a deal!

I've always wondered about those dish detergents with the microbeads in them... anyone like them?

I used to like the Ajax lemon liquid - but I noticed that it now has a stronger more artificial lemon scent that is not as pleasant. For a while there was a blue Ajax version with baking soda with a more pleasant scent, but that seems to be gone as well. So I have gone back to Palmolive original. Ivory is no longer tolerable and I was never a big
Dawn fan.

I used to also like Rose Lotion Vel, but that hasn't been around for years - not sure how someone found it in Florida. The only Vel product I have seen is "Vel Rosita" which is sold in our Latino markets as a delicate fabric wash.

The Vel pink dish liquid is a popular product in Puerto Rico.

PALMOLIVE, YOURE SOAKING IN IT!!!! I actually use it for bubble bath. It's cheaper than real bubble bath, and it doesn't hurt my skin. PLUS, it does a GREAT job on my dishes. THANK YOU, MADGE!!!!

You Mentioned...

Lux, Thrill and Vel. Does anyone remember Swan?

There was also one made by Dial...and I can't remember the name off hand. I think it came in an imperial green bottle. It had a very odd commercial, and believe it or not, was constantly shown on "Queen For A Day". (tell me that doesn't have a whole new meaning LOL).

It's Chiffon

Chiffon was the dish liquid made by Dial (or Armour back in the day). It was introduced with a very cute commercial back in 1956 or so (when Dial products were co-sponsor of "The Danny Thomas Show on its last season for ABC before moving to CBS a year later).
And yes, I know about Swan. During the first season of "The Lucy Show," pink Swan was pitched in a number of commercials (Lever Brothers/Unilever co-sponsored "Lucy" along with General Foods). One spot had co-star Vivian Vance and the three kids playing Lucy and Viv's children washing dishes with Swan....
"Swan keeps sudsing and sudsing and sudsing and sudsing....The grease-cuttingest, grease-cuttingest suds!" They don't make jingles like that anymore.

Palmolive as bubble bath

This brings back memories. Palmolive is the brand I remember my mother using the most. And she insisted that we use it as a bubble bath, since she felt it made it easier to keep the tub clean.

I'm not a big dish soap suds fan here. My procedure on dishes:

1. Clean out sink and fill it up with hot water.
2. Add dish soap.
3. Add dishes and let soak until water starts to cool down, then attack liberally with dish rag, scrubber or dish brush.
4. Rinse and put in drainer.

I have Palmolive Scrub Buster i got a target on clearnce for $2.50 for the big bottle, have crisp apple and lemon? scent..Will last me for many years, as i don't do alot of dishes by hand and toss most stuff in the dishwasher...

I use Cascade or Cascade complete powder in my dishwaser.. Its a picky thing...Plus GE's seem to like it better imho...

GE dishwashers and Cascade...

I think I recently saw a GE dishwasher on display at Home Depot had the detergent cup marked "Cascade" rather than detergent. Evidently, that's the brand GE prefers. Or else is getting a kick back on....

Mine is the builders standard ge natulis unit
Doesnt do anything great, makes crap tons of noise and eats cascade like candy..But it works good nuff

While Lucille Ball entertained and is still entertaining millions of people, off camera she was not the nicest person. She had a tendency to be very demanding and she ALWAYS got what she wanted like it or not.

Hi Anthony~

If you would like, I could send you a few bottles Of Vel Dish liquid. feel free and email me..

my nautilus

The lid of the rinse aid dispenser is marked "Jet Dry dispenser" instead of rinse aid! Mine makes some noise too (it's a portable), but it cleans great!
