Local Dealer Drops Samsung and Frigidaire

Received an e-mail from the local dealer who carries KitchenAid, Frigidaire, Maytag and Samsung.  

 

They have decided to drop Frigidaire because the company rarely offers discounts or special deals anymore.  

 

They're dropping Samsung because of service issues.  Apparently the foot-forward company is great at  innovation and offers frequent discounts, but still can't get its act together for providing parts to servicers. 

 

They will now sell only Whirlpool Corp. brands:  Maytag, Whirlpool, KitchenAid and Amana.

That's what I so dearly LOVE about this site. No matter WHAT you post, there is always someone there to try and prove you or who/what you are posting about completely wrong and/or incompetent. Even if all you are doing is telling about something that a local dealer is doing. Makes me wonder why I look at this stuff to begin with. I must be a masochist.

I'll never carry those brands at my shop. Maybe Samsung if they ever start making a decent product. Frigidaire has always been garbage.

I found Samsung parts available at SearsPartsDirect.com, PartsDr.com, SamsungParts.com, RepairClinic.com, AppliancePartsPros.com, MidwestApplianceParts.com, and a smaller selection at ApplianceZone.com.

There may be other sources that would come up on further searching but seven was enough for me to do price comparisons.

I bought the following items from PartsDr.com, which are all still available (price I paid --> current price).

Friigidaire

Frigidaire didn't take a downward swing until after White Westinghouse got them. The washers they made at first were not too bad, although they paled in comparison to the 1-18 machines made by GM. But the dryers were total garbage until they started making them like the old Westinghouse design dryers, which were much smaller capacity. I never thought the front load washers with the reversing direction were too bad though.

That's a shame about the local dealer.

I just "spoke" with an appliance repair tech on YouTube the other day who said the same thing - can't get parts for Samsung right away. He said he had to wait weeks to get them, so he refused to work on Samsung washers/dryers anymore.

So Dadoes - how long did you have to wait for parts?

I had a Samsung VRT a couple years back. Twice the door latch broke, and twice I got the part quickly off of eBay. Perhaps it depends on what kind of part you need?

I used to work part time for a liquidator fixing various electronic stuff. Samsung TVs were the same way, you almost had to wait until they parted out on eBay. Usually it was always the same problems the ICs on the main boards, LCD inverters or drivers, would go and you'd basically have to wait for the cracked screen ones to part out. Sometimes the Costco ones had different inputs and you'll be stuck waiting 6 months for a board to show up. My boss was always like "can you fix them any faster?" and I'd always tell him that you couldn't get parts. Worst part was those were factory new sets that basically never worked out of the box.

I'd imagine the washers are just as bad. A lot of their stuff comes across as highly engineered to the point of gimmicky but generally isn't but as well as it looks.

Samsung really had gone down hill for support. I've had one too many customer calling us complaning about Samsung. I'm no longer suggest Samsung to my customer.

Samsung Is About The Worst Company To Get Parts Or Service

Bruce wait till you have problems with your SS W&D it just might make your LG refrigerator seen good, LOL.

 

Yes you can go on line and find many parts for SS, BUT SERVICE providers do not have time to surf the web for every service call they run, neither SS, LG and Miele have gotten their acts together when it comes to parts being widely available at major parts distributors, so big surprise their products are usually the first to hit the scrap heap, Miele is about the worst in this regard here in the DC area.
