I assume the answer is a resounding yes, but let me ask anyway. The question i have is this, are there automatic washers known to exist by the collector community but have yet to be found?
I suppose common models with unusual factory color or options would qualify.
We would know of their existence through parts catalogs and sales brochures and such.

I can think of a couple... Canadian models, bien sûr!!

I know that there was a Moffat-branded version of a washer/dryer combo, made by the good folks at Norge, that my father remembers delivering when he worked at the Eatons department store back in the 50s.  I've never, ever seen one, though...

Other Canadian 'lost machines' would be the early Eaton Viking washers and dryers that were re-badged versions of the 50s Blackstone machines or an Inglis washer/dryer combo (it was a rebadged Whirlpool combo).

Of course I can be content knowing that I have possibly the last known Dominion automatic washer - but to be fair I had no idea that brand existed before I found it!

Wow - just read through the original thread and it's amazing how many 'long lost' machines have surfaced since this thread was first posted.   There's hope for us yet!! LOL

Covered in a 1968 Consumer Reports mag, that I have...

Although common, 'cept for this unique & never-seen ('round here) feature: there's the Hotpoint that does TWO LOADS AT ONCE...

Cool stuff..

just what I was hoping to hear. The treasure hunt aspect of vintage appliances appeals to me a lot, likely my favorite part.
Some of the most sought after automobiles are prototypes which are extremely rare, usually secretly saved from the scrap pile by someone involved in the creative process.
I wonder if any such item exists for the products discussed on these pages?
I have seen one prototype vacuum cleaner documented on the other site.

A few.

The Hotpoints from the early 1960s with the cantilevered control panels, A Frigidaire Rollermatic washer with upper-cabinet storage and variable speed, A Kenmore with a water softener, and I'm sure there are others.
