Interesting to me too is that there is an outlet for an electrical dryer not three feet /one meter from a gas source.........

What's with the piping on the hot water heater? Is that a return loop going in under ht eburner port, and a circlator in the line to keep the water in the pipes hot at all times?

Toggle, it looks like the pressure relief valve is hooked to that piece of pipe...just my opinion....
