Chances are you can make that work. But it's always good to have the original machine. The frankenmore turned out because the 1982 machine had a bad panel, the 1968 machine had a bad mechanism, thus Frankenmore was born.

My grandma on my mom's side had a GE like this with mb.

Togs,
If you want that washer/dryer I could possibly find a way to get them to my place, then know another person going to the NY area with some room in their truck.
So it could work out if the timing is right.

Thanks so much boys. But I have to trim down---er my place that is-- so that I can relocate and move.

Thank you so very much for thinking of me and the offer of your very kind assistance & facilitation.

:-)

This is a pretty cool mid sixties GE set - is anyone from MI interested?

I had seen a matching avocado washer earlier this spring that I wasn't able to save (I just grabbed the V12 agitator). It had a time line like timer that I've seen on a closely related dryer posted somewhere on the site.

I was thinking about it, but if you really want the set, go ahead. I liked them because of their age, and style of the consoles (and no GE stuff yet in my collection).
What I really long to find though, is a GE "Americana series"
set from 1973. We bought them new when we lived in Tucson. I loved the lighted consoles and of course, the mini-basket.

Looks like there's some interest here! The machines are 172 miles west of me, and I am just several miles North of Detroit.
I might be able to con my friend into getting them here, but don't know anyone going to Connecticut at this time.
I have another friend that on occasion goes back and forth from Buffalo, NY to Detroit though.
I also looked for you at the Craters and Freighters website, and they had no Michigan locations! What's up with that?

beauties

These are beauties-anyone know where this town is in relation to Elkhart,In.?I go there frequently.

Shipping

Now that Beltman seems to have quit shipping appliances, that only leaves C&F,plus some others. C&F does a fantasic job of packing, crating and shipping but be prepared to pay $1,000 more or less for each appliance.

C&F locations are franchises, thus not in every area. It all depends on who wishes to buy a franchise and open up in a particular area.

UPS will ship certian freight items, but you have to do the packing/crating.

How would dryer work?

I assume this has a pilot light, how does that work? I f you have a modern day gas dryer, how would the hookup differ. Can someone explain and are these safe considering it being 40 years old?

Wow

I have a set just like these and love them. I would love to have a second set but they are so far away. :( Goatfarmer I really think you should save these jewels!

swestoyz, does this dryer match the washer you spoke of? If so, I think I will be sick!

Many eBay sellers will end an auction early if a local person purchases the item. Also the downside of only "watching" an item and not bidding is that if the item does not have any "money" on it, eBay rules make it easy for the seller to cancel the auction. Sellers may also assume that the item will not go if after several days no bids are placed. Even though sellers can "see" how many people are watching a particular item, watching is not the same as stepping up to the plate.

There was? Hmm, strange then.

Still, eBay rules only allow a seller to end an auction early when there are bidders, under circumstances, one of them being an "error in listing". Unless eBay sends someone out to inspect the item, they will never know will they? Even if eBay does not refund the seller's listing fees, one would assume that whatever he/she got for the items (again, assuming the auction was ended early due to a local buyer), more than compensated for anything from eBay.

Hey Thirtyater, yes, the washer matched that dryer. I spied the machine on a Wed night, and grabbed the agitator. I even had my camera with me but I was in such awe of moment, that it didn't even cross my mind to get out the digital. Since I didn't know the business well, I decided that it be best to leave the machine and go back over my lunch the next day (for karma). Well, when I went back on Thursday over my lunch @ 11:30, the lady said I had just missed the junk truck by 30 minutes. I was kicking myself royally the rest of the day.

I hope this set sold of ebay, it would be a shame if they went to the crusher. Can't save them all ~

Wow Ben I can't believe that one got away. I am really glad to know that there was at least one of those out there though. Maybe one day one will be headed my way!

I hope someone here ended up with the eBay set.
