Looking for advice - KDS-15 Timer

Good Morning all,

I have an issue with the timer on my KDS-15. I have a terminal on the timer that came loose from the outside. So, I carefully opened the top just to look inside and see how they were connected. It kind of looks to me like it could be an easy fix but I wanted some advice before I attempted to do anything. I am sure I could rig something up but I didn't want to mess with this and accidentally cause more damage.

This particular terminal seems to be the Power On light and should be energized during the entire cycle. The timer sticks right at the beginning of the cycle and I suspect this could be part of the cause. If I attempt to advance manually it seems to get caught in the gears.

When the timer is installed and I hit one of the cycle buttons the machine starts and the Power On light is off. If I manually advance the timer a click or two or three until the Power On light comes on the cycle finishes.

Has anyone else had this and come up with a good fix? I think the timer is fine except for this.

Ralph, if nobody comes up with a replacement timer for you, maybe you can be really careful and drill thru the rivet that came loose from the fibre board and put in a small, short screw, washer and nut and hold it in plase that way? Looks like it didn't have much holding it in place for all these years.

Ralph, I've had good luck drilling out the rivets on these older Malory timers, and installing new copper rivets. I'd try fixing it before looking for a new one.

I followed Robert's instructions from the linked thread below. I've done this to a few times and have been successful each time.

I like the idea of a screw or replacing the rivet. I didn't think of that. My brain was leaning more towards some kind of glue or something like that.

I actually have a friend who saved me a $400 repair on my oven with a $1.49 capacitor from Radio Shack. He soldered in the new one on what looked like a computer motherboard and 10 minutes later I was good to go.

He does this kind of thing all the time so I may ask him to see if he would attempt this. I have another timer but that one has three loose and two of them are buried further down and more difficult to get to without further surgery on the timer.

I'm not positive this is the cause of the timer sticking but I have to eliminate this as a potential cause before I can tell if there is anything else. The timer goes through the cycle perfectly once it gets past this part.
