Hi there,
I just joined yesterday and as fate would have it, I wound up buying a 1959 GE Princess built-in top loading dishwasher today! It is supposed to be in working condition, but the cabinet frame had to be cut when the appliance was removed from the kitchen where it was installed. I think the dishwasher might be a good candidate for a restoration, however I am not that skilled. I know for sure that I am going to need a new tub gasket. If anyone out there can help me find parts or a restorer that would be great. I am located in Montreal, Canada - if anyone knows of a Canadian-based restorer or parts supplier please let me know! Thanks!!

Welcome Turquoisedude

Thats the machine I grew up with, ours had the optional walnut wood door panel.

One noisey machine!

It looks like you are missing the frame? I only see the roll out tub there?

If so you will probably need another whole machine to part out to get this one working. I don't see why they would seperate the two pieces as the whole thing was designed to slid in under the counter.

Good luck, keep watching here and ebay these things show up once or twice a year.

Fantastic dishwasher

I was just in Montreal for Divers/cite' last week (great fun). I also grew up with this same dishwasher & have been on the hunt for another for some time. If at all possable get the frame & build it back together. The dishwasher looks to be in good condition. Keep us posted please. Mike

Am I lucky or what - I do have the frame!

Thanks for the welcoming!

The dishwasher does include the frame (I didn't show it on this picture). The frame did have to be cut to remove it from the kitchen where it had been installed, but I think I will be able to repair it. I have a friend who can weld...

I am keeping a full photo dossier of the stages of the restoration.

Note to mikepaquette - I actually found this beauty in North York! I am picking it up in about two weeks!

I'll be posting more as things progress!
