Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support AutomaticWasher.org:

SEEN IT

That high speed video is all over the internet and while it is cute and funny, It aggravates me about 15 to 30 seconds into it. I don't believe it helps the novice washer mechanic at all. It does bring the usual attention to Lorain Furniture which inches you to their website. Once there I lasted about the same amount of time when I reviewed the TALK TO EUGENE section . Yes, Eugene will be happy to speak with the novice washer mechanic for 40 bucks per 20 minute prepaid telephone call, Paypal accepted.LOL- If you can restore a wringer and you believe the standard Maytag automatic washer is complicated ,I urge you to research more material posted here by the true masters.

And BTW--Was it necessary to Put Lorain's business in the title. You must be close friends or perhaps receiving payment

Let Combo John put his commercial here also. John runs a REAL repair business in Maryland, Yet I haven't seen him hawking his wares or business name in a washer HELP forum. Perhaps AW should charge for business advertising. [this post was last edited: 11/9/2020-18:25]

No affiliation to Lorrain Furniture & Appliance...

Wow, Joseph, you apparently feel VERY strongly about this company and the subject.

Quote...And BTW--Was it necessary to Put Lorain's business in the title. You must be close friends or perhaps receiving payment

Anybody who knows me on this forum will think this to be a ridiculous assumption.

Then why not simply post this magic helper video without a name ,That would have sufficed. Why the name of the business and town?

Please excuse me for voicing my discontent at help forums being used for commercial gain.I see you slipped in the Lorain name yet again. I have problems with people seemingly trying to help while holding up a $$ sign . Have you seen this site? Do you agree with the 40 buck charge to SPEAK with this new genius in order to ASK or learn to fix an old washer ?? You are right,I go way back and feel strongly. Back when we volunteered and helped each other save old machines together--40 bucks INDEED!!!

I mean no insult to you personally ,But if one stands back and looks from afar, It looks like a Lorain billboard. I hope we can speak of better topics going forward--Joe

Joseph, his profile name on this site is Lorrainefurniture.

What else would you refer to him as?

If he’s found a new revenue stream to stay in business, more power to him. As appliances become more and more disposable and parts unavailable early, the need for appliance repairers reduces every year.

I’m not sure why you are so angry about him having found a way to keep his business viable in a changing market? If you don’t like it, you don’t need to purchase his services.

Thanks Brad...

For posting this video. I'll watch it this evening when I have some "me time", but I will say that if the high speed play back is bothersome, I found it was pretty watchable at a playback speed of 0.25.

There's a gear in the lower right. Click it, and then there will be a menu option of "Playback speed" with a number of pre-selected speeds. Try the slowest speed (one quarter or .25).  The background music slows down too so you may want to mute that.

BTW, if the video had not been sped up, the running time would have been 2 hours....

Lorain Furniture (Cleveland, Ohio) Maytag A806 restoration..

Great videos, Thanks for posting Brad, ideal to see for repairs and for posterity, and the fact fellow members helped out supplying vital tools to make the job easier is testament to this site.

The fast playback is great , you can PRESS PAUSE or go to the settings symbol on the bottom bar or three dots on top if on phone and SELECT PLAYBACK SPEED and SLOW it down to your own requirements win win ..!!

Great job Eugene, heres to many more !!

I enjoy watching Eugene's videos and have no problem with someone mentioning his business, Lorain Furniture & Appliance, located at 4617 Lorain Avenue in Cleveland, OH, 44102, in a thread on this website.

Quite honestly, I wouldn't be a bit upset if someone posted the phone number for Lorain Furniture & Appliance, (216-939-8718) or even the website address (lorainfurniture.com).

Eugene of Lorain Furniture & Appliance even has a fun line of washer-related T-shirts for sale. I purchased the "You're Agitating Me" shirt a couple of months ago, its witty tagline surprisingly appropriate for this post.

In addition to selling appliances, Eugene (of Lorain Furniture & Appliance located at 4617 Lorain Avenue in Cleveland, OH) sells parts for vintage machines, which has undoubtedly been helpful to members of the AW family.

I see no issue with Eugene--who owns & operates a business called Lorain Furniture & Appliance--charging whatever he chooses for a consultation.

Almost forgot: Check out Eugene's YouTube channel!

And you can bet your bottom dollar that if I lived anywhere near Beltsville, MD, I would buy appliances from John LeFever, who owns and operates Alco Appliance Sales & Service, located at 10101 Bacon Dr., Unit F,
in Beltsville, MD, 20705. Reach him by phone (301-937-6996) or e-mail ([email protected]).

There. My work here is done.😁

Slight drift about YouTube playback....

Funny that several people have noted the speed at which Eugene's video plays back... I have a similar issue with a video I posted years ago about my kitchen renovation project at the house in Ogden.  Most people who view it complain about the speed at which it plays back - it did not and still does not play back that quickly when I run the raw version on my PC.  Very odd....

Thank you

I never claim to be a "master" of anything. Im just an enthuisiast just like the rest of you. However, I have a wife and 3 small children and am the sole financial provider. Yes, I do charge $40 for a phone consultation. When my Youtube channel grew in popularity, my phone started ringing non stop. So much that my local (paying) customers were getting the busy signal. These people were just calling to chat.

I was forced to put a paywall up so I could actually run my business.

My business consists of many facets. my primary is selling new/used appliances. I also have a website with a slight specialty of selling NLA hard to find parts. I have 2 Full time technicians doing in home service work. I only go on the road if its a "special" customer, or a vintage appliance repair. Lastly, I have the youtube part which is by far the most work, and the least profitable. I do it because I really like it. Just for the record I hae been running a REAL repair business for(MY ENTIRE ADULT LIFE) 20 years. Im sure there are plenty of people on this site that probably forgot more than Ill ever know regarding appliances, but im not exactly new to this business.

I made that particular video for entertainment only. Most people wont sit through a 2-4 hour realtime assembly of an old washing machine. I try and make videos that garner interest in the hobby of vintage appliances to those who have never been exposed to it.

Aw members only get a discount on my website. Just use the coupon code "automatic" Nobody else gets a deal. And for those who find my wares on ebay, they know if they mention they are an AW member, I will typically accept any offer they submit. My goal is not to hoard appliances or parts, its to get them in the hands of the people that need them.

I do not see any issue here. I am absolutely 100% okay with the way Brad posted the title, if it helps out one of a our members who is in good standing (such as Eugene) on this site then great, glad we could help get traffic to them. That is completely different than someone who finds aw on google and joins to make one or two posts advertising their business and then goes away. I really don't understand why that makes any difference to anyone.

I enjoy the videos of the Whirlpool and Kenmore belt drive washers you uploaded back in 2018. Those videos will certainly help me with my 1963 RCA Whirlpool Imperial Mark XII I acquired back in June of this year and I’d venture to say it is in similar condition to the 1981 Whirlpool belt drive washer Eugene did a partial refurbish on.

Love Eugene's video's

I've subscribed to Eugene's channel and really enjoy his videos.

Frankly, just like others have said here I don't see any issues at all with him trying to make a living with what he's doing.

Like many have done before, if you want to know how to fix your Maytag, buy a 2nd hand repair manual, the tools and have a go!

Cheers
Leon

All Apologies

SPECIAL!!!!Everyone who visits and joins the AW website is now approved to post their business phone number and website at no charge. Be sure to upload full length video's of anything pertaining to appliance sales, new or used, repair, furniture and livestock. What an opportunity!! Join today.

Perhaps the early AW ideology has drastically changed, I give up--Goodbye!--Joe

Good riddance Joe and thanks for the apology

It’s funny to me how someone that has been a member for less than a month (Sudster member since 10/18/2020) is talking about early AW ideology and calling a member out for posting another members username.

I’ve been a member since 2005 and don’t post here very much but I am on the site all the time reading posts, watching videos and I go to some of those wash-in events. I just want to say Eugene I’m subscribe to your channel and I love your videos and the way you speed up the fill on your videos.

Apparently no one has a problem except one random person that has not been a member for a month and has a since apologized, so take what they say with a grain of salt.

Keep it up Eugene you’re awesome!!

On another recent thread .....

he mentioned this, as if he had been a previous member from long ago:

"It has been a long time since I was a member and have no intention of reliving my past."

But yeah Jeff, if this website causes him this much anger, I wonder what the real world does to him?! sad

Not saying this site isn't real world, but I come here to get away and involve myself with my hobby to wind down. I always have a good time here and love seeing what others are doing with their appliances. If they have parts or other resources available, that is just gravy and should be looked at as added help in this quirky hobby. More power to you if you just so happen to be making a living at it!

I would like to say something here

I may not be too experienced with washers or dryers nor would I call myself an expert. But for someone like Eugene that posts YouTube videos about reviews or repairs (Especially on the older machines) I think knows what they're doing. In fact, I was VERY impressed with the restoration video on the Maytag. I didn't think someone would look at and get everything working right on a washer unless if they are a collector like most people on here and probably Eugene himself. Unfortunately for my sister, she bought a used set from a appliance shop (Probably out of business already) which the seller cleaned up the outside of it really nicely but I'm pretty sure they've never bothered touching the inside of either machine. A few days later, one of the machines already had an issue and I remembered it was really difficult for the seller to come out and fix it up since it had like maybe a 7 or 30 day warranty, something like that. They just acted like they don't really stand behind their work. That's why I wouldn't want to buy a used set, but now that I think of this. I wouldn't hesitate to call either Eugene or someone that does as good of a job as Eugene to buy either a used SQ or a used Kenmore set if I needed to.

Anyways, thanks Eugene for making these awesome videos. I've definitely learned alot from you and you're one of the reasons why I'm looking into getting a SQ TC5 and DC5 for myself. Once in a while whenever I wouldn't have much going on, I would look at some of your other videos. So thanks again for your time and effort.

WOW

The reply #1 was extremely rude.

As far as I remember, I interacted directly with Eugene only once and I couldn't be happier. He was friendly and very helpful.

Just for fun, I've watched hundreds of hours of his videos.

And yes, he's a master. Of course there are people that knows more than him. nobody knows "everything". But he's a true master and I've never seen ANY mistake on his videos.

The high speed is interesting... sometimes I speed up videos that are "normal" speed to save my time. Other times I slow down fast speed videos if there's a more important detail that I want to watch. Deal with it and learn how to use youtube's speed control. Duh!

Charging for a phone consultation... WOW, how dare him do that? What comes next? People start complaining because he's charging to repair or restore their washers? Oh wait... how dare him charge money in exchange for a restored washer he has to sell (Please understand I'm being sarcastic I totally agree with him charging, that's HIS work, it has to be respected he's not doing anything wrong).

And if Lorraine Furniture was local, I'd LOVE to have Eugene taking a look in ALL my washers and dryers to keep them always in pristine conditions. Same with other 2 other AWO members that are also masters and have all my admiration and respect.
