On a sad note I lost the clock/timer on my '59 Frigidaire CI range. I always bake my pumpkin pies in it and I set the timer for 55 minutes and went to check how much time I had left and found it had not budged. It had been going strong for over 50 years. Anyone have a source for a replacement?

As for the gain, the Frigidaire gained a new brother last Sunday, when I replaced my crappy Jenn Air 30" wall oven with a beautiful Electrolux Wave Touch convection oven. It's beautiful unit inside and out. Love the blue interior and the theater lighting, and the "Perfect Turkey " option is just that, we had a perfect turkey today even though it had to be held on Keep Warm for a couple of hours. And even a heavy turkey gently rolls out on ball bearing glides. Cant wait to try proofing bread and doing a lot of holiday cooking in it.

Also I love my new Sieman/Bosch cooktop that I had a thread about back in Oct. and it's a great match with my Electrolux oven. It was a pleasure cooking Thanksgiving dinner with new appliances today.

And it was doubly nice since my dad got out of the hospital yesterday after close to a 3 week stay after breaking his hip. We had a nice family dinner. Hope everyone here had the same!

Glad to hear you like your new oven. Its the same one I ordered for my new house. I'm getting the double with the warming drawer installed just under it.

I'm glad your dad is out of the hospital,

tho', following your life over the last years, know things aren't easy for you.

Sometimes, the clock isn't dead, it just needs lubing. Other times, it's really gone. If it still hums, then there are articles on the internet about rejuvenating. If there's no hum, but current is getting to it, then you'll need a new one.

I've had good luck using Chinese clock motors from this century to replace units built in the 1950's, their engineers obviously learned General Motor's moto: Build it right once, repeat.

Good luck with it - no doubt there are folks here who probably have a spare or can help you exactly. Do post a photo when you can - we all run into spare parts regularly and if I know what to look for, I'll keep my eyes peeled.

I haven't disassembled it yet, but here is a shot of the clock/timer/Cookmaster set up. The Cookmaster died about a decade ago, the contacts burned off so I by passed that. I hope the motor is replaceable, I know many were in the past.

Note the cracked glass, originally the stove sat against a glass block window and the heat and cold combined to crack the glass. It was replaced several times when I was a kid, but at this point I know there is no hope of ever finding a replacement...

Electrolux Oven

Hi Matt. I have the same oven but with the range. I love thie stove. I too had the "Perfect Turkey". lol We got a fresh turkey, and I brined it with the Willliams Sonoma brining blend that someone gave me. I think this turkey was the best I ever made. I loosely covered it with foil and it still browned beautifully. A 27 lb. turkey, unstuffed took only 5 hrs. I did have to put the probe on top of the leg and into the breast, because when I insereted it under the leg. it seemed that the temp was going up too fast. The turkey I had also had a pop up thermometer, and this popped up right before the probe said it was done. This feature is so neat in that it goes to Keep Warm after the turkey is done. Now...did you use the default setting of 180 degrees? The turkey was so nice and golden brown and crisp. My cousin carved it for me. He first took the legs and wings off then removed the breasts, but instead of slicing with the grain, he sliced it against the grain and it was perfect, moist and not falling apart.

I see with you last name that you are Polish? SO am I. lol

We had 10 people for dinner, and I think I posted all we made in my thread. I am glad you had a nice time with your family but most of all that your dad is out of the hospital.

Proofing Bread

Matt, You can email me privately if you want to more about the oven. I have it over a year now. The bread proofing is fantastic. You do have a few settings here. I proofed all my nut and poppyseed rolls and babka for Easter. They came out fantastic.

Thanks Ray, I may do that.

I reset the temp to 170, I usually take my turkey out at 165 on my instant read thermometer. Since it was a smaller turkey than I normally get I put it on an hour later than normal but even so it was done about an hour sooner than I wanted, and guests were late so it was in Keep Warm mode for almost 2 hours and still was fine. I think I'm really going to like this oven.
