Hey folks, Im a fairly new member with a question.
My 6 year old Aqualtis has recently become quite loud on the spin.
When i turn the drum by hand there is a slight rumble. Am i right to think that the bearings are at fault, and if so is this an easy fix?
Any advice?
Thanks.

hay, my aqualtis is from 2006 one of the first ones to b made and it uses an induction motor and it occasionaly squeeks. have you noticed oilly water?

Oilly water?

Hey Tom, thanks for the reply. i got my dates wrong, it was brought in 2006 too, i just had to have it. really fond of this one.
i have noticed the squeak, and the pump has always been loud too. but i hadn't noticed any oily water. should i be worried?

keep an eye on it. back in 2003 when my old hoover softwave broke mum always noticed oily water and an indesit was bought when it died (indesit was comletly shit) imss the old hoover :(

Aqualtis bearings

It could be the bearings on the way out I found that they are not replaceable so as mine had failed big time it was a jet taking off at every spin :) I got another broken machine and swopped the drum I was told by Hotpoint the bearings for them were not available as a kit and they wanted around £100 to fix it Hmm thought I and did it fo £30 myself..!

ready for take off

Thanks Austin, your description is most accurate.
my machine once spun like a silent dream and is now a noisy nightmare.
its such a shame they dont build them to be serviced. im reluctant to buy new. was it a big job replacing the whole tub?

Noisy bearings

No to be honest I cheated as the spare machine I got was in pristine condition and no noise at all on the bearing so I swapped the electrics and door as it was easier and quicker than changing the drums it also means I have a fair few spares.
One little tip I discovered on removing mould off the door seal was put it in the dishwasher :)

Me i would start thinking if i where in your shoes, and if this was me with my whirlpool duet. Maybe start thinking about buying a replacement washer rather than having it repaired, because me my whirlpool duet dates from 2004 and is 7 years old and i am thinking after 10 years. Or if i notice the whirlpool duet that i have, starting to have problems both. Washer and dryer set will be replace by brand new machines.
