In the Sarasota, FL area, there is a large Amish community and there are Amish restaurants. Yoders is one with legendary desserts. One year we went to a different one and they had crumb-top strawberry-rhubarb pie. Just three words for it: Fab U Lous. Mom used to make a crumb-top apple pie that needed no crust so that would eliminate all worries about crust for you, Hans.

My Grandma always called rhubarb "pie plant". A large corner of the kitchen garden was given over to pie plant, and it was a regular dessert on the farm. I remember Gram being so excited to get the deep freezer, now she could freeze the stuff!
