MAH7500 Neptune staining towels

I have a Neptune 7500 set that I loaned to a friend. She has been complaining of staining on her towels. I told her to use hot water. She uses cold. Here's the extent of it..... She said it "happened at once" which was at least a couple of years ago. Any ideas?

there is nothing wrong in using cold water if the stain is not gone thats because the stain went into the fabric and can not be removed i know it happen to my own clothe the secret to remove stain is to wash it when the stain is fresh and washing in cold water also prevents the stain from entering the fabric and cook there because hot water can cause the stain to remain in the fabric and this is my only post about this.

Looks to me like its either rust from broken bearings but she would know if the bearings were that bad because of the noise it would make while spinning.

Failing that shes probably got a huge minging mess caused by washing in cold water using liquid detergents. It will show on towels more as they hold much more water in absorbency than lighter cottons and when the machine goes into spin more water is flowing over the outer tub washing off this Scrud cold water washing creates. The water washes some off and it gets washed onto towels in the rinses.

Probably best you remove the inner tub and clean the gunk inside before giving her stern advice to use hotter cycles. Drag her to the machine when you strip it so she can see for herself what cold water has done.

I agree. Time for a complete cleaning to start fresh. Then it's powdered HE detergent. I also use an Affresh tablet once a month with a hot wash, heavy cycle for maint. As much as I loved my MAH4000, when I had the chance to get my hands on a MAH7500, I JUMPED on it. I did a cabinet off restore complete with a donor cabinet, new bearings and seals, boot and motor conversion. This has been a trouble free washer since. Now all I need is to get the matching dryer. Give yours a little love and you both will come out well...

outer tub inspection

You can take one of the rear paddles out of the inner tub and inspect the outer
tub scum level through the opening under the paddle.When i first got my '98 neptune
MAH 3000,it reeked something fierce but with proper use and leaving the door
open after use the odor went away...

Maytag made a stacked commercial double dryer unit that was to match the commercial Neptune washers. It looks just like a Domestic Neptune SuperStack but with two dryers and it came with windowed doors. The best place to look is at a servicer/dealer who works with commercial laundry. They may have extra doors from retired units...

me in my case i do not think its related to the fact that its cause by cold water as cold water is made to remove stains and have you ever tought that this might be a bleach stain if thats the case then it will never go away as bleach stains never leaves clothe well this is just my tought here and it might be something to consider as well

Have Never Seen "Rust" Coloured Scrud Before

Am more than unusually certain the staining shown above is some sort of rust. This could be coming from the bearings or some other place inside the machine but has to be something else than the result of merely laundering in cold water.

Sadly the only test is to use a rust remover on the stains which often means colour will be lost in the treated areas as well.

The only other thing it might be and this is still related to rust; is some type of mineral/iron staining from the household water supply and or the pipes that bring it to the washer.

Age of washer dryer plumbming

Depending on the age of the house have you ever tought, that maybe rust might be in the plumbing of the washer maybe you should. Unhook the washer from its plumbing and fill 1 bucket with hot water, from the washer hot water valve and check if there is rust. In the water and do the same with the cold water valve and if there is indeed rust, in the washer 's plumbing maybe you should have a plumber replace both the washer 's plumbing. By installing new pipes and run the washer with no clothe, on a full cycle 1 time on the hot water setting and then do the same on the cold water temp only and then the same thing on the. Warm water temp and after the washer is filled with water, put the washer on pause and open up the door and check if the water is rust color. This would be the first step before calling for a plumber to check the washer water plumbming.

That stain to me looks like residue from hair color on the towel. Did she do a color on herself or a friend at home then wash these towels? Hair color has peroxide in it and leaves these color marks in towels. Doesn't matter the color of the towels being white, black, green etc this is the color of the stain left after. Never hurts to ask her if this was done. Or did she wipe something up prior to this going into the machine that may have changed the color, possibly a cleaner of some sort? Maybe not a problem with the machine.

STAINED TOWELS

It could be the washer but most likely not. As someone wisely suggested remove a drum baffle or two and take a look at what if any residue is in the outer tub, there should be none if the washer is being used properly. It is not likely a rust stain from failing bearings, if it was the machine would already sound like a fright train in the spin cycle.

1) The Neptune 7500 has a couple of features that should minimize if not eliminate mold problems: boosted water temperature heating to 130F, and a rapid tumble mode in the rinse that helps to flush debris out of the outer tub. Your friend should be encouraged to run at least one hot load a week.

2) One probably would not be able to install the windowed dryer door on the washer for a couple of reasons: the washer inner door is molded to seal against the rubber gasket on the washer, and the solid washer door has a sprung weight inside it that works to help dampen vibrations in the spin cycle. Also, the washer door is vented which can help to prevent mold growth even if the door is kept closed when the washer is not in use.

I run warm and hot loads every week in my Neptune 7500. I keep the door closed when it's not in use. I also boost the powdered detergent with STPP. Never had a mold odor problem with it. When it had the spider replaced at the three year mark, the tub was immaculate inside.

Stains on towels

Thanks for your comments and feedback. My friend has been using this Neptune MAH7500 washer for 5 years. This episode with the towels happened at least 2 years ago. She said she has seen small spots on some other laundry but nothing as significant as what is on these towels. She does not color her hair. She runs the washer empty with hot water and bleach regularly, leaves the door open to let the interior dry and does not have any mold or visible gunk. I have a MAH4000 machine and have not detected anything like this but I use hot water and bleach quite often.
