Hi everyone,
I inherited a Hobart Superba KDS-16 dishwasher when we bought our house. We've run it pretty much every day in the 16 months we've lived here, and no complaints. It's starting to make a whiny noise right at the beginning of the cycle (first 5 minutes), but other than that it runs great. I'm wondering how to best take care of the machine so that nothing breaks and I am not stuck looking for a part that broke because of my ignorance. What kind of basic maintenance/upkeep should I be looking to perform on the dishwasher? Thanks in advance for your advice.

RE: Basics/Seth

Hello,

My name is Seth. I know little. I wanted to let you know this fact upfront. I do know some things, e.g. taking time out, learning, and/or mechanics (questionable).

Anyway...I have a KDP-19 Patrician. They both are very similar machines.

I am selling mine for parts and to get something fancy.

Okay...here goes. I have learned that when I take time out to better understand my machine, I find out that things are not as complicated as once perceived. If you can find a "Manual or Shop Manual" for your make and model, I am sure you would be able to do all sorts of things, e.g. basic maintenance, electrical fixes, and timer ratio programming.

I just think that owning and taking care of a machine are not the same thing. I am glad that you are reaching out to the community. If you need anything, please just send a reply.

In hindsight...get that manual. It will usually show preventative maintenance and how to maintain that machine.

Sincerely,

Seth

P.S. That picture I left is an interior part to the Sani Heat Water Heating Element. I am sure you can tell what happens after 35 years of no maintenance.
