Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Don't know yet.  A guest Sat evening fetching ice (the dispenser has been clogged for a year, rarely use it myself so have been ignoring), made a remark that "one fell somewhere to the back" so could be it caused a repeated overflow.  MyDumbAssSelf didn't investigate immediately.  No water pooled on the freezer or kitchen floor.  My problem in dealing is if most of the accumulation melts into the defrost drain and the condensate pan floods, so have been alternately melting and sopping the pan into a bucket.  Slow progress.

Ice in a frost free freezer will sublimate if you leave it alone long enough. You could get a set of ice cube trays and wait it out. Since food does not really thaw during the defrost cycles, I don't think this berg will either, so you will not have a Fargo, ND situation in your kitchen. Just think, this puts you in a frozen sitation similar to the guys up north, except your situation is controlled and smaller. You could put a towel on the floor of the freezer and take a blow dryer to this.

A couple of solid whacks with a hammer aught to free up that ice and maybe even fix the problem.*

*(DISCLAIMER) This advice is not to be taken seriously. Advice is purely unwanted peanut gallery. Anyone who knows their stuff (like John) knows better and would actually advise THREE hits...

A wrecking ball and/or blow torch may be more appropriate for this specimen in question.

Finished, almost.  Used a hairdryer to speed the melting, disassembling and pulling chunks out as they loosened.  The ice maker valve is seeping so the water supply must remain off until a replacement valve assembly arrives.  Took the opportunity to replace the awaiting rusted-stuck chute-flapper solenoid.

Holy smokes! That's one of the more messed up solenoids I've seen in my years. Glad you got a handle on it but that must have been fun to remove...

Not too big a deal.  I'd examined the solenoid last summer, knew it was bad.  The bobbin was rusted stuck and the chute was sealed-over with an iceberg.  I rarely use the ice dispenser so left it for later.  The top screw was worst so I'd taken it out then.  Ice dispensing is not suited for hot/humid areas, too much condensation occurs which deteriorates the mechanism components and causes other troubles such as icebergs.

Agree but I'd take your design over the Whirlpools where the I/M, bucket and dispenser are all in the door. Dealing with the frost up issues are fun times to be sure...
