Hey,
Any body work on ice machines??
Have a problem with a manitowic going into the harvest cycle way before ice is getting made. With the bridge control pulled out and away from the water flow it will stay running. The is a big gap between the evaporator and the bridge control, more than before i cleaned the machine. ( it was really bad - sat up all summer)
Any ideas? Finally just turned it off and will see what happens tomorrow.
Thanks,
John

Hey John,

It has been quite a few years since I've had to clean/work on one of these. I certainly can understand what it would have looked like if the thing sat all summer without a clean-up.

I don't remember much behind my diagnosis, but a COMPLETE clean always seemed to do good. Pull everything apart, blow out the coils, and spend some time watching it.

I don't remember if harvest is triggered, or timed? Is there a thermocouple involved?

Just thinking out loud. Always spent a good 20 minutes a week with one of these in a previous employment.

maybe know the cause

Was able to download a technicians service manual for the q model of ice machines. The harvest is triggered by water running over the metal control bridge for more than 6 seconds. It says in the manual that if it is not clean and dry all the way before reinstalling that is could cause pre-mature harests. So left it open all night, going to go back today and see if it is going to work right. Also says it has a freeze cycle timeout of 60 minutes, so could actaully take the control out and it would make a slab of ice every hour.
Will see what happens. Since it was working beore, I am guessing the control was just too wet.
